La promesa del pitcheo cubano Héctor Mendoza habría abandonado la liga japonesa y se encontraría en un paradero desconocido, aunque se supone buscaría una vía para llegar a las Grandes Ligas, según revela El Nuevo Herald.
Más allá de la ruta que haya tomado, generalmente los cubanos terminan entre Haití y la República Dominicana, donde les resulta más fácil acceder a la residencia legal, documento indispensable para obtener la agencia libre, señala el diario miamense.
Mendoza, que en Series Nacionales vestía el uniforme de la Isla de la Juventud, firmó un pacto con los Gigantes de Yomiuri el 17 de julio del 2014, convirtiéndose en uno de los pocos peloteros de la Isla en integrarse al béisbol japonés y, sin dudas, el más joven y el único serpentinero.

Anteriormente, Mendoza había tenido una sólida faena con la escuadra nacional que conquistó el oro en los Juegos Centroamericanos de Veracruz 2014, junto a otro joven ahora firmado en las Mayores: Vladimir Gutiérrez.
Con cuatro Series Nacionales y por tener menos de 23 años, Mendoza califica como agente libre con restricciones, y el equipo que lo firme estaría obligado a pagar alguna penalidad si sobrepasa el monto asignado para el mercado internacional.
