T-Mobile and Sprint open free calls to Cuba. The measure includes text messages and is valid until the next Friday.
T-Mobile and Sprint telephone companies have begun to allow calls and free texts from the USA to countries affected by the hurricane Matthew, including Cuba.
“To help our clients connect with their loved ones in the path of the hurricane Matthew, T-Mobile has decided to get calls and texts from the United States to the affected areas, including the Bahamas, Bermuda, Cuba, Haiti, Jamaica, and Turks Caico, free of cost. T-Mobile also will waive the rates for roaming calls and texts for customers in the Bahamas, Bermuda, Haiti, Jamaica and Turk and Caicos”, said a statement from T-Mobile.
The service of the company based in the city of Bonn, Germany, apply to all customers postpaid and prepaid both T-Mobile and MetroPCS, GOsmart and Walmart Family Mobile. It is valid only until October 7.
T-Mobile makes it clear that applications like Skype or Google Voice, Line will not work for and these must be disabled before making calls through the T-Mobile service.
For its part, Sprint has done the same with its customers. In a press report, it was learned that from Thursday and until Saturday, October 7, enterprise customers of “Sprint, Boost and Virgin Mobile in the United States, wishing to communicate with those countries affected by the path of the hurricane Matthew, including the Bahamas, Bermuda, Cuba, Haiti, Jamaica and Turk and Caicos,” may do so free of charge.
In addition, “international roaming and SMS calls for all Sprint customers in these countries also will be exempt from payment”.
“We want to do what we can to help our customers keep in touch with their loved ones,” said Sprint CEO, Marcelo Claure.
With other providers of telephony, as in the case of AT & T, it has not been possible to verify that they can make calls or send texts to Cuba.

T-Mobile y Sprint abren llamadas gratis a Cuba. La medida incluye los mensajes de texto y estará en vigor hasta el próximo viernes.
Las compañías telefónicas T-Mobile y Sprint han comenzado a permitir llamadas y textos gratis desde EE.UU. a todos los países afectados por el huracán Matthew, incluyendo Cuba.
“Para ayudar a nuestros clientes a conectarse con sus seres queridos en la trayectoria del huracán Matthew, T-Mobile ha decidido que las llamadas y textos desde los Estados Unidos hacia las áreas afectadas, incluyendo las Bahamas, Bermuda, Cuba, Haití, Jamaica y Turks Caico, queden libres de costo. T-Mobile también renunciará a las tarifas de roaming en las llamadas y textos para los clientes en Bahamas, Bermuda, Haití, Jamaica y Islas Turks y Caicos”, ha dicho un comunicado de T-Mobile.

En un reporte de prensa, se supo que a partir de este jueves y hasta el próximo sábado 7 de octubre, la empresa los clientes de “Sprint, Boost y Virgin Mobile en los Estados Unidos, que deseen comunicarse con aquellos países afectados por la trayectoria del huracán Matthew, incluyendo las Bahamas, Bermuda, Cuba, Haití, Jamaica e Islas Turks y Caicos”, podrán hacerlo sin costo.
Asimismo, “las llamadas internacionales de roaming y SMS para todos los clientes de Sprint que se encuentren en estos países también quedarán exentas de pago”.
“Queremos hacer lo que podamos para ayudar a nuestros clientes a mantenerse en contacto con sus seres queridos”, dijo el CEO de Sprint, Marcelo Claure.
Con otros proveedores de telefonía, como es el caso de AT&T, no ha sido posible verificar que se puedan efectuar llamadas o enviar textos a Cuba.
