AMERICAN INFORMATION GIANT GOOGLE WILL START NEW SERVICE TO CUBA.
Cuba and Google Alexis Leiva Machado (Kcho) signed agreement Internet in Havana on Monday, according to statements by Brett Perlmutter, head of operations for Google in Cuba and the Cuban sculptor.
The giant American informative Google and the Cuban Government have reached an agreement to give the island a faster access to the content of the Internet giant, said two people familiar with the deal.
Eric Schmidt, Chairman of the parent company of Google, will sign the agreement officially on Monday in Havana, added the two people.
The agreement gives Cuba access to a network of servers called Google Global Cache that stores content sites operated by Google, such as Gmail and YouTube in several places in the world.
Cuba has one of the lowest Internet access rates in the world due to a wide range of problems, such as the complicated path that the information must be followed between Cuban users and servers, which often are in the United States.
It was not clear immediately if the server or servers to which Cuba will have access will be in the same island or just closer than now.

El Gigante informativo norteamericano Google y el gobierno cubano han llegado a un acuerdo para dar a la isla un acceso más rápido al contenido del gigante de Internet, dijeron dos personas familiarizadas con el trato.
Eric Schmidt, presidente de la empresa matriz de Google, firmará el acuerdo de manera oficial el lunes en La Habana, agregaron las dos personas.
El acuerdo da a Cuba acceso a una red de servidores llamada Google Global Cache que almacena contenido de sitios operados por Google, como Gmail y YouTube en varios lugares del mundo.
Cuba tiene una de las velocidades de acceso a Internet más bajas del mundo debido a una amplia gama de problemas, como la complicada ruta que debe seguir la información entre los usuarios cubanos y los servidores, que con frecuencia están en Estados Unidos.
No quedaba claro de inmediato si el servidor o servidores a los que Cuba tendrá acceso estarán en la isla misma o sólo más cerca que ahora.
