A renewed Lucia begins its tour in Cannes just when it is celebrated 35 years that the film Cecilia (1982) also directed by Humberto Solás, integrated the competitive selection of the prestigious event, and a year before Lucia celebrates its first half century of premiere .
The restored version of Lucía will have world premiere in this section of Cannes Classics 2017, a space born just over a decade and that takes on an unprecedented dimension at this 70th Cannes Film Festival. Last year, Cannes exhibited the also restored copy of Memories of Underdevelopment, and now is the time to program the other great classic of Cuban cinema.

En la sección Cannes Classics, del más prestigioso festival cinematográfico del mundo, se incluyen dieciséis películas que hicieron historia en este evento, desde los años cuarenta y cincuenta (con las francesas La batalla del riel y El salario del miedo) hasta los sesenta y ochenta (la serbia Encontré gitanos felices, la polaca Hombre de hierro o la japonesa La balada de Naryama).
Además de la películas premiadas, o que causaron revuelo en alguna de las ediciones anteriores del Festival, se incluyen otras copias restauradas como ocurrió con las francesas Madame de…(1953, Max Ophüls) y L’Atalante (1934, Jean Vigo), y con la cubana Lucía (1968, Humberto Solas) considerada un emblema no solo del cine nacional sino también latinoamericano y mundial.
Una Lucía renovada comienza su recorrido en Cannes justo cuando se celebran 35 años de que el filme Cecilia (1982) también dirigido por Humberto Solás, integrara la selección competitiva del prestigioso evento, y un año antes de que Lucía celebre su primer medio siglo de estrenada.
La versión restaurada de Lucía tendrá estreno mundial en esta sección de Cannes Classics 2017, un espacio nacido hace poco más de una década y que adquiere dimensión sin precedentes en esta 70 edición del Festival de Cannes. El año pasado, Cannes exhibió la copia también restaurada de Memorias del Subdesarrollo, y ahora es el momento de programar el otro gran clásico del cine cubano.
