A well-known piece of music declares: “The ball was thrown by your dad and your mom / for how cute you have done for me …”.

Surely not. We are just looking at another example of the influence that baseball – Cuban national sport – exerts on what people talk about in the Greater Antilles.
Yes, because throwing the ball, in the jargon of here, means to have a brilliant performance in any area of human activity, as exceptional as when a baseball player, with a solid shot, makes the ball out over the fence, Outside the boundaries of the sports field.
BEING IN THREE AND TWO ..
As for “throwing the ball”, say that it is not the only case in which our baseball fans have taken said to the daily popular speech, to that jargon of walking at home.

WITHOUT GLOVE AND TO THE HARD AND WITHOUT FACEBOOK ..
Before something that is merciless, extremely rigorous, that does not admit contemplations nor softness, the Cubans say that it is “hard and without glove,” or “hard and without grimace.”

Botar la pelota, en la jerga de por acá, significa tener una actuación brillante en cualquier área de la actividad humana
Una conocidísima pieza musical declara: “Botaron la pelota tu papá y tu mamá / por lo linda que te han hecho para mí…”.
Se trata acaso de que los progenitores de la bien plantada muchacha cogieron una esfera y la lanzaron con fuerza por la ventana?
De seguro que no. Sólo estamos ante un ejemplo más del influjo que el beisbol –deporte nacional cubano– ejerce sobre lo que habla la gente en la mayor de las Antillas.
Sí, porque botar la pelota, en la jerga de por acá, significa tener una actuación brillante en cualquier área de la actividad humana, tan excepcional como cuando un jugador beisbolero, de un sólido batazo, hace salir la bola por encima de la cerca, fuera de los límites del campo deportivo.
ESTAR EN TRES Y DOS..
En cuanto a eso de “botar la pelota”, dígase que no constituye el único caso en que nuestra afición beisbolera ha llevado dichos al habla popular cotidiana, a esa jerga de andar por casa.
Son centenares los modismos, de esa procedencia, que se aplican a innúmeras situaciones, y en todos los escenarios imaginables.
Emprendamos, pues, un pequeño y rápido recorrido a través de la gracia metafórica y pelotera.
Se dice que alguien está “en tres y dos” si se halla en una situación difícil, apretada. Claro, de quien se encuentra en circunstancias dificultosas, comprometidas, también se puede decir que tiene “las bases llenas”.
Y, si se trata de alguien que en nada de lo que emprende acierta, se asegura que “no lleva nada por la bola”.
SIN GUANTE Y AL DURO Y SIN CARETA..
Ante algo que es inmisericorde, sumamente riguroso, que no admite contemplaciones ni blandenguerías, los cubanos decimos que es “al duro y sin guante”, o “al duro y sin careta”.
De quien se muestra inefectivo o poco acertado, afirmamos que está UÁIL, recordando al lanzador descontrolado.
Es “el dueño del bate y la pelota” quien se halla en situación de poder decidir totalmente en un asunto, por depender de él todos los recursos.
Es “ÁO por regla” o un “ÁO vestido de pelotero”, la persona o el asunto que fracasarán de seguro. “Un batazo” será lo excepcionalmente bueno, y se califica de “flaicito” o “palomita” al asunto muy fácil.
Por último, un consejo: trate de que su pareja nunca, nunca, nunca, lo sorprenda “fuera de base”.
