AHÉ !..AHÉ !.. La Chambelona…
During the years of our republic, after being freed from Spanish power, a period of relative calm of the continuity of power on the part of some of the participants in the warfare process was reached, in it appeared many generals of the war, then beginners in the new political careers, also contributed prominent participants in the struggle for the emancipation of the Cuban people before the foreign power – in this moment forgotten by the absolute power of a single party that make everything possible to conserve power, today Communist Party of Cuba – still with the many errors and defects of our first rulers.
But let us begin with our costumbrista episode in a historical tour through the national scene of those moments, already something forgotten by the time; memories, sometimes laughable but fraught with eccentricities to attract the population in favor of one or another candidate of the different parties participating in the national contests, this is the case as were the popular songs created and used in the election.
Electoral Music.
Since Cubans are a musical town, it is not uncommon for music to be used in political propaganda. From very early in the republic our two great political groupings at that moment as they were the two great parties, the Conservative and Liberal, they chose a music, rhythm or tune to identify their party.
An example was like the same conga used by the Conservatives: In the government of President Mario Garcia Menocal was sung: Tomb the cane / walks light / that there comes the mayoral / ringing the leather.

And during the government of Gerardo Machado the habaneros sang with sneer: Aspiazu gave me a bottle / and I voted for Varona / Ahe !, Ahe! the chambelona.
Already the republic came in almost fifty years of political power and with the then candidate to President Fulgencio Batista in his populist stage and with a good part of the population in his favor, even with compromises with other authoritarian sectors like the Communist Party of then, Batista used for his campaign of 1940 a chorus that said: Batista president / knows no rival / is guaranteed / by the national vote.
For the presidential campaign of Carlos Prío in 1948, Osvaldo Farrés composed a tune that said: Prio, Prio president / because he wants it, people want it / Here comes the planer with Prío ahead and the town behind.
In that election of 1948 Dr. Ricardo Núñez Portuondo took advantage of Pototo and Filomeno, who sang a claim that said: It must be the president / and the Cuban people orondo / affirms and of that I answer / that there will be honesty in Cuba / and that will be when he climbs / Ricardo Núñez Portuondo.
Those who supported Eduardo R. Chibas made a parody using the music of the song “Maybe, Maybe”, by Osvaldo Farrés, replacing “perhaps” with “Chibás” and said: Whenever I ask you / when, how and where / You always answer me: / Chibás, Chibás, Chibás.
A lot of time has passed and still remember those historical moments full of grace and appeal of the popular spark of the Cuban people. It is still said, “Any past time was better! .. The present will give you the answer.

MÚSICA ELECTORAL EN LAS CONTIENDAS POLÍTICAS DEL PASADO CUBANO.AHÉ!..AHÉ!..
Durante los años de nuestra republica, despues de liberada del poder español, se logró llegar a un periodo de relativa calma del continuismo de poder por parte de algunos de los participantes en la contienda guerrera, en ella figuraron muchos generales de la guerra avenidos entonces como principantes en las nuevas carreras de la politica, tambien entraron a participar contribuyentes destacados en la lucha por la emancipacion del pueblo cubano ante el poder extranjero – en esto momentos olvidado por el absoluto poder de un solo partido que maniobra todo por conservar el poder, el hoy Partido Comunista de Cuba- aún con los muchos errores y defectos de nuestros primeros gobernantes.
Musica Electorial en el Pasado Politico Cubano.
Pero comencemos con nuestro episodio costumbrista en un recorrido historico por el escenario nacional de aquellos momentos, ya algo olvidado por el tiempo; recuerdos, a veces risibles pero cuajados de excentricidades para atraer a la población a favor de uno u otro candidato de los diferentes partidos participantes entonces en las contiendas nacionales, este es el caso como fueron los canticos musicales populares electorales.
De la Musica Electoral.
Siendo los cubanos un pueblo musical, no es raro que se usara la música en la propaganda política. Desde muy temprano en la república nuestras dos grandes agrupaciones políticas en aquel momento como eran los dos grandes partidos, el Conservador y Liberal, estos escogieron una música, ritmo o tonada para identificar a su partido.
Un ejemplo fué como la misma conga utilizada por los Conservadores: En el gobierno del presidente Mario García Menocal se cantaba: Tumba la caña / anda ligero / que ahí viene el mayoral / sonando el cuero.
Y durante el gobierno de Gerardo Machado los habaneros cantaban con sorna: Aspiazu me dio botella / y yo voté por Varona / Ahe!, Ahe! la chambelona.
Ya entrada la republica en casi cincuenta años de poder politico y con el entonces candidato a presidente Fulgencio Batista en su etapa populista y con una buena parte de la poblacion a su favor, aun con componendas con otros sectores autoritarios como el Partido Comunista de entonces, Batista usó para su campaña de 1940 un estribillo que decía: Batista presidente / no conoce rival / esta garantizado / por el voto nacional.
Para la campaña presidencial de Carlos Prío en 1948, Osvaldo Farrés compuso una tonadilla que decía: Prio, Prio presidente / por que lo quiere, lo quiere la gente / Ahí viene la aplanadora con Prío adelante y el pueblo atrás.
En dichas elecciones de 1948 el Dr. Ricardo Núñez Portuondo echó mano de Pototo y Filomeno, quienes cantaban un reclamo que decía: Ha de ser el presidente / y el pueblo cubano orondo / afirma y de ello respondo / que habrá honradez en Cuba / y eso será cuando suba / Ricardo Núñez Portuondo.
Los que apoyaban a Eduardo R. Chibas le hicieron una parodia usando la música de la canción ?Quizás, Quizás”, de Osvaldo Farrés, sustituyendo ?quizás? por ?Chibás? y decía: Siempre que te pregunto / que cuando, cómo y dónde / tu siempre me respondes: / Chibás, Chibás, Chibás.
Mucho tiempo ha pasado y todavia se recuerdan aquellos momentos historicos llenos de gracia y atractivo de la chispa popular del pueblo cubano. Se dice todavia, “Cualquier tiempo pasado fue mejor!.. El presente les dará la respuesta.
