La construcción, según la pagina Web Preferente.com, estará a cargo de una empresa mixta formada por la estatal Cuba Golf S. A. y la española El Salado Resort S. L., presidida por Juan Maura, y con dos grandes accionistas: María José Hidalgo y Sandro Cristoforetti. Segun Hidalgo, directora de Air Europa, el proyecto será “el campo de golf y resort turístico más importante próximo a La Habana”.
“Es el primer proyecto inmobiliario en Cuba en el que los compradores tendrán la propiedad a perpetuidad, lo que lo hace aún más atractivo” y está enfocado de manera primordial al mercado de segunda residencia europeo y, por supuesto, al americano”, precisó Juan Maura.
Dada la magnitud del proyecto, enfocado como segunda residencia de compradores europeos y norteamericanos, Maura ha explicado que se construirá en varias fases. Lo primero será el campo de golf, el hotel de golf de 250 habitaciones, 250 habitaciones y una treintena de villas.
El acuerdo se firmó este miércoles en La Habana, pero la empresa española dispone de 30 meses para ultimar el masterplan y el estudio de viabilidad para comenzar las obras y que el resort esté operativo en cinco años.
El complejo quedará en la zona zona especial de desarrollo de Mariel. Se construirá en una zona de 208,3 hectáreas, que dispone de área costera en primera línea de mar de unos tres kilómetros.
“La inversión rondará los 1.000 millones de euros e incluirá un campo de golf de 18 hoyos, campo de práctica, casa club con spa, un hotel de golf con 250 habitaciones, otro hotel de playa con 500 habitaciones, 273 villas, 596 chalets y 2.070 apartamentos, más centro comercial y de servicios”, detalla Preferente.com.
Hace un año, en junio de 2016, el Gobierno anunció que edificaría uno de los complejos de golf “más grandes de América Latina”.
La Compañía Beijing Enterprises Holdings Limited, de China, y la británica Esencia Hotels and Resorts tienen obras relacionadas con campos de golf en Bello Monte, en Guanabo, al este de La Habana, así como en Varadero.
En marzo, el Gobierno aprobó una empresa mixta con España para construir un campo de golf en Punta Colorada, Pinar del Río. Y, en junio, otra empresa española suscribió un acuerdo para construir otros seis campos en la Isla.
Hasta ahora estos nuevos campos no se han habilitado y solo se dispone del de Varadero. En este campo de la playa matancera, se celebran torneos internacionales del deporte y fue donde en 2013, Antonio Castro Soto del Valle, hijo del difunto Fidel Castro, ganó el Campeonato Internacional de Golf Montecristo.
El golf, de acuerdo a especialistas, podría ampliar el turismo en la Isla y atraer a cierto sector interesado en el deporte.
