The Spanish Asturian Collective has granted 14,237 direct aids to Asturians and descendants of Asturians residing in Cuba, to whom the Government of the Principality of Asturias in the last decade has allocated 1.2 million euros.
As reported by the Government, personalized service has allowed cater to 1,991 people in ten cities and provinces of the island, specifically Havana, Matanzas, Sancti Spiritus, Villa Clara, Blind Avila, Cienfuegos, Granma, Camagüey, Santiago and Holguín.
The application for grants and visas, the processing to claim pensions and social benefits and the request for aid to return have been the most demanded issues.
Minister of the Presidency, Guillermo Martínez, met today with President of the Federation of Associations Asturianas in Cuba, Longinus Valdes to address the situation of 14,946 people linked to the Principality residing in the country, of which 191 are natural of Asturias and 14,748, descendants.
The Old Asturian Center of Havana seized since the beginning of the Cuban Revolution.
After the Cuban Revolution, the property of the luxurious Centro Asturiano de la Habana was seized and became the headquarters of the Cuban-Spanish Friendship Association. In the 2013-2017 period, social aid reached 3.2 million, of which 97 percent was earmarked for direct aid, to which 685,000 euros will be devoted next year.
In the last five years, 1.85 million have been granted in individual grants, which have reached 4,803 beneficiaries.

La Colectividad Asturiana española ha concedido 14237 ayudas directas a los asturianos y descendiente de asturianos que residen en Cuba, a los que el Gobierno del Principado de Asturias en la última década, ha destinado 1,2 millones de euros.
Según ha informado el Gobierno, el servicio de atención personalizada ha permitido atender a 1.991 personas en diez localidades y provincias de la isla, en concreto La Habana, Matanzas, Sancti Spiritus, Villa Clara, Ciegos de Ávila, Cienfuegos, Granma, Camagüey, Santiago y Holguín.
La solicitud de subvenciones y visados, la tramitación para reclamar pensiones y beneficios sociales y la petición de ayudas al retorno han sido los asuntos más demandados.
El consejero de Presidencia, Guillermo Martínez, se ha reunido hoy con el presidente de la Federación de Asociaciones Asturianas en Cuba, Longinos Valdés, para abordar la situación de las 14.946 personas vinculadas al Principado que residen en el país, de las cuales 191 son naturales de Asturias y 14.748, descendientes.

Después de la Revolución cubana, la propiedad del lujoso Centro Asturiano de la Habana fue incautado y se convirtió en la sede de la Asociación de Amistad Cubano-Española. Luego sería el Palacio de Pioneros (centro de educación) y el Tribunal Supremo. Finalmente desde el año 2001, sirve de sede a las colecciones de arte universal del Museo Nacional.
Hoy, el apoyo que presta el Ejecutivo autonómico a los asturianos que viven en la isla caribeña se plasma también en los 29.138 euros con los que se ha respaldado la labor realizada por diversas entidades de la zona de 2013 a 2016.
En ese último año se han otorgado 11.255 euros a doce asociaciones y clubes y el proyecto de presupuestos para 2018 incluye 1,6 millones para partidas como las destinadas a subvenciones directas a emigrantes y descendientes (370.000 euros), los fondos para los convenios asistenciales actualmente en vigor (198.000) y los dedicados a las ayudas al retorno (80.000).
En el período 2013-2017 las ayudas sociales alcanzaron los 3,2 millones, de los que el 97 por ciento se destinó a ayudas directas, a las que el próximo año se dedicarán 685.000 euros.
En los últimos cinco años se han concedido 1,85 millones en subvenciones individuales, que han llegado a 4.803 beneficiarios.
