This Friday, 344 Lada cars arrived in Havana, model Vesta and Largus, which will be destined to the tourism sector and the taxi service, according to the Cubadebate official website.
The lot aims to reduce the serious situation of urban transport in Cuba, but many people think that the importation of cars should be destined for sale to citizens at reasonable prices.
The vehicles are part of an agreement between the Cuban government and the Russian production company AvtoVAZ. Also, Cubadebate highlights that these cars have an excellent comfort so they will pass to the car park of the company Cubataxi.
Upon receiving the import, Nicolás Maure, president of AvtoVAZ, indicated that Cuba has always been one of the preferred destinations for Lada cars since the eighties.
These cars, produced in the Russian city of Tolyatti, gained popularity in Cuba in the 80s for its resistance and the simplicity of its mechanics. In fact, even today they travel the Cuban streets with not a few changes in their machinery and bodywork.
In August 2017, AvtoVAZ and the island government signed a contract for this delivery of Ladas. Last December, 320 units of the Lada Vesta type were delivered, in what was called “the return to Cuba” after twelve years of absence.

Este viernes arribaron a La Habana 344 automóviles marca Lada, modelo Vesta y Largus, que serán destinados al sector turístico y el servicio de taxis, según informa el portal oficialista Cubadebate .
El lote tiene como objetivo disminuir la grave situación del transporte urbano en Cuba, pero muchas personas piensan que la importación de autos debe ir destinada a la venta a los ciudadanos a precios sensatos.
Los vehículos forman parte de un convenio entre el gobierno cubano y la empresa productora rusa AvtoVAZ. Asimismo, Cubadebate destaca que estos carros tienen una excelente confortabilidad por lo que pasarán al parque automotriz de la empresa Cubataxi.
Al recibir la importación, Nicolás Maure, presidente de AvtoVAZ, indicó que Cuba siempre fue uno de los destinos preferidos de los autos Lada desde los años ochenta.
Estos coches, producidos en la ciudad rusa de Tolyatti, ganaron popularidad en Cuba los 80 por su resistencia y la simplicidad de su mecánica. De hecho aún hoy recorren las calles cubanas con no pocos cambios en su maquinaria y carrocería.
En agosto de 2017, AvtoVAZ y el gobierno de la Isla firmaron un contrato para esta entrega de Ladas. Durante el pasado mes de diciembre, 320 unidades del tipo Lada Vesta fueron entregados, en lo que fue catalogado como “la vuelta a Cuba” tras doce años de ausencia.
