JetBlue adds new nonstop route to Cuba and expands flights from South Florida.

The American company United Airlines plans to increase its flights between Houston (Texas) and Havana as of July 20 next. According to the PRNewswire portal, the offer, broadcast by the airline, is still awaiting authorization from the United States government.

United Airlines’ daily flights will connect 44 destinations in the center and west of the United States with Cuba, making a single stop at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport. In fact, it will be the only connection with Cuba for these areas (center and west) of the country. Remember that United also offers a New York-Newark-Havana connection.

The company’s new daily service with the José Martí international airport will be operated with a Boeing 737-800 or with regional Embraer E175 aircraft operated by Mesa Airlines as United Express. The Boeing offer 16 seats in first class and 150 in economy class. In addition there are another 54 in economic plus (with additional space to stretch the legs).

A year ago, the airline opened offices in the Cuban capital.

In other news, the US airline JetBlue announced on Tuesday that it will expand its operations to Cuba with the addition of its first nonstop service from Boston to Havana, a route that will take place every Saturday starting November 10.

In a statement issued today, the company said it will add up to three daily flights between the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and the Cuban capital from Sunday to Friday, beginning November 11, 2018.

The new service is the result of the frequencies (slots) granted to the airline by the Department of Transportation of the United States. The routes are subject to government approval and will go on sale in the coming weeks, the note said.

The new services to Cuba and Mexico will operate on the JetBlue Airbus 320 aircraft, highlighting the service with comfortable seats; free and unlimited refreshments; more than 100 free channels of the SIRIUSXM radio program and 36 free and live television channels of DIRECTV programming on personal televisions in the back seats; free wireless internet (known as Fly-Fi on JetBlue), and more space between chairs in economy class, the statement said.

La compañía norteamericana United Airlines prevé incrementar sus vuelos entre Houston (Texas) y La Habana a partir del 20 de julio próximo. Según ha publicado el portal PRNewswire, la oferta, difundida por la aerolínea, está aún pendiente de la autorización del gobierno de Estados Unidos.

Los vuelos diarios de United Airlines conectarán 44 destinos del centro y oeste de los Estados Unidos con Cuba haciendo una única parada en el aeropuerto intercontinental George Bush, de Houston. De hecho, será la única conexión con Cuba para estas zonas (centro y oeste) del país. Hay que recordar que United también ofrece una conexión Nueva York-Newark-La Habana.
