Esta joven cubana habló del papel que ha jugado su cubanía en todo su proceso de mejora. “Para mí la Isla es todo, estoy muy orgullosa de ser cubana y me encanta que cuando me conozcan se respete ese pedazo de mi. Quiero que se respeten mis raíces. Cuba es sinónimo de lucha, de que allá donde vamos tenemos ese carácter de luchar, no rendirnos y hacernos un hueco donde vayamos”, defendió.

Para ella su estancia en Galicia, donde reside en la ciudad de Pontevedra, es como estar en casa aunque confesó que siempre tendrá un problema de nostalgia. “Es una enfermedad crónica que vamos a padecer todos los cubanos que salimos de la Isla porque por mucho que tu vida cambie al salir de Cuba siempre vas a tener el corazón allí. Siempre tenemos esas ganas de ser nosotros mismo en nuestra tierra pero aprendimos a vivir con ello”, dijo.

“Salí aterrorizada de Cuba con 23 años recién cumplidos, pero me encontré con una tierra que me acogió”, agregó.

Entre sus proyectos de futuro señala con ilusión uno que tiene señalado en rojo: escribir un libro de cocina de aprovechamiento y abrir su propio restaurante. “Soy cubana, amo mi tierra y me encantaría abrir un restaurante, pero lo veo complicado. De abrir un restaurante lo haría en Miami, donde también tengo muchísimo público”, afirmó.

Asimismo también desvelo la influencia que juega la emigración en sus platos, ya que “la gastronomía cubana es muy sabrosa pero también limitada, es bonito poder sumarle lo que vas aprendiendo”.

De su paso por Masterchef, Ketty recordó cómo fue su adaptación y señaló las oportunidades que le va abrir en su futuro inmediato. “Me ha cambiado muchísimo la vida porque hace unos meses estaba cocinando tranquilamente en casa porque es algo que me apasiona y ahora voy a tener la oportunidad de convertirme en chef profesional”, reveló.

“Estoy muy agradecida por el apoyo que recibí del público de Miami, Cuba y Latinoamérica. Nunca me imaginé que iba a recibir tantos mensajes de gente que no conocía y que me daba su apoyo y fuerza. Sin eso no creo que hubiera alcanzado el segundo lugar”, confesó.

Un éxito que, nunca mejor dicho, se ‘cocinó’ a fuego lento con su abuela entre olores y ruidos del sofrito. Una curiosidad que se convirtió en pasión a su llegada a Galicia, donde cada día reivindica sus raíces.
