Jorge Perugorría Rodríguez (aka “Pichi”) (born 13 August 1965) is a Cuban actor, Film Director and Painter.

He is well known for his part as Diego in ‘Strawberry and Chocolate’ (original title in Spanish ‘Fresa y chocolate’ (co-directed by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea and Juan Carlos Tabío) a young homosexual, cult, dissatisfied and battler who was attracted to David, a pusillanimous and conformist heterosexual.

He lives in Santa Fe, a neighborhood on the outskirts of Havana, with his wife Elsa Maria Fuentes de La Paz and their four children.

FRESA Y CHOCOLATE.

The young actor won world fame and thus began a career that has managed to demonstrate, by far, that his first successful role was never the work of mere chance.

2. Amor vertical (1997) de Arturo Sotto es uno de los papeles más románticos y sexys que ha interpretado el actor, en tanto es, junto con Silvia Águila, parte de una pareja de amantes que no encuentran un sitio para hacer el amor, y por lo tanto tienen sexo donde sea, como pueden.

3. Lista de espera (2000) de Juan Carlos Tabío le regaló uno de sus mejores papeles de comedia: un ciego farsante, un pillo, que se aprovecha de la supuesta minusvalía para tratar de colarse.

7. Regreso a Ítaca (2014) fue rodada en Cuba por el cineasta francés Laurent Cantet, y el actor se arriesga a interpretar uno de los papeles con menos permanencia en pantalla: le da rostro al cubano que se quedó, que se adaptó, tal vez corrompiéndose, quizás haciendo concesiones.

8. La pared de las palabras (2014) significa un reto enorme en su filmografía: interpretar a un hombre aquejado por una enfermedad neurológica terrible, y el actor logra conmover sin patetismos ni fáciles manipulaciones, e incluso le provee al personaje cierto sentido del humor que enriquece su perfil humano.

9. Viva (2015) es un melodrama realista hablado en español, ambientado en Cuba y dirigido por el irlandés Paddy Breathnach. Perugorría es un boxeador retirado, alcohólico y homófobo, y el actor está enorme en las muchas escenas que comparte con el protagonista Héctor Medina.
