The visit of Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel to New York, served to boost the efforts of Cuba to attract tourists in the United States, the first country to send vacationers of the world. Díaz-Canel, took the opportunity to meet with various US sectors, including the travel industry of the northern country.

Despite the restrictions, more than 430,000 Americans visited Cuba until September 2018, according to figures from the Cuban government.

The interest in Cuba skyrocketed after the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two nations in mid-2016, and the beginning of a new stage in bilateral relations.

Last year more than 619,000 Americans traveled to Cuba. Meanwhile, some 400,000 Cubans living in the United States visited Cuba in 2017.

Since then and to date, the figures have decreased by around 20 percent, however experts believe that overcoming the barrier of 400,000 American visitors until September of this year is an indicator that interest remains.

La visita del presidente cubano Miguel Díaz-Canel a New York, sirvió para impulsar los esfuerzos de Cuba por captar turistas en Estados Unidos, primer país emisor de vacacionistas del mundo. Díaz-Canel, aprovechó para reunirse con diversos sectores estadounidenses, entre ellos de la industria de viajes del país norteño.

A pesar de las restricciones, más de 430.000 estadounidenses visitaron Cuba hasta septiembre de 2018, de acuerdo con cifras del gobierno cubano.

El interés por Cuba se disparó tras el restablecimiento de las relaciones diplomáticas entre ambas naciones a mediados de 2016, y el inicio de una nueva etapa en las relaciones bilaterales.

El año pasado viajaron a Cuba más de 619.000 estadounidense. En tanto, unos 400.000 cubanos residentes en Estados Unidos visitaron Cuba en 2017.

Desde entonces y hasta la fecha, las cifras han decrecido en torno a un 20 por ciento, sin embargo los expertos consideran que superar la barrera de los 400.000 visitantes estadounidenses hasta septiembre de este año resulta un indicador de que se mantiene el interés.
