Entre los clasicos bailables que nos dejó Juan Formell, unos de su autoria y otros de conocidos y desconocidos creadores, esta un género musical bailable que le llamó “El Guararey de Pastorita” que acompañado con Los Van Van hizo mover el esqueleto a fiesteros por mucho tiempo.

Pero de donde viene “El Guararey de Pastorita”, un ejemplo del Changuí-Shake inspirado por Pastora Yuani Sayus, que dejó este mundo en el 2013 con casi un siglo de existencia. Aun sin saber lo que era el estribillo “tener Guararey”, algunos creian que era invencion del mismo Formell, otros que era de los conocidos compositores Roberto Baute, Pedro Speck o de la propia Pastorita. Despues de años de litigio, que llegó incluso hasta a los tribunales se dilucito que el verdadero autor del Changui, que todavia los mismos Van Van poseen en su viejo repertorio, fue creado por el músico y compositor Roberto Baute. Según la sentencia 336 del 14 de junio de 1976, Baute fue el verdadero compositor de aquella pieza, que narra la guerra que le hicieron al autor por enamorarse de Petronila, la hija de Pastora.

Baute vivía por entonces en el Sigual, un poblado de la oriental provincia de Guantánamo, y en un bailable se enamoró de Petronila, mucho menor que él, pero con quien finalmente tuvo dos hijos.

Al parecer a Pastora no le hacía demasiada gracia aquel amorío, una porque el hombre era casado, y otra porque le llevaba 20 años a su hija, y se opuso a la relación. O sea, le armó guararey a Baute.

“Pastorita tiene guararey conmigo, yo no sé por qué será, yo nunca le he hecho nada, ella es mi amiga del alma la llevo en el corazón”, se defendió Baute con su música montuna, sin sospechar que esos versos viajarían toda Cuba y parte del mundo gracias a Formell.

Nacida en Boquerón de Yateras, en 1916, Pastora fue recién descubierta hace apenas una década en el poblado de Uveral, pues hasta entonces se creyó que era un personaje imaginario.

Pastorita bailó hasta que las piernas se lo permitieron, y quién sabe si en el Más Allá pueda volver a hacerlo, al son de la guitarra endiablada de su yerno Baute, la paila sin par del changüisero Elio Revé, y ahora el tumbao inmortal de Juan Formell.
