Cristina Maria Saralegui es una periodista, personalidad de televisión, actriz y presentadora de uno de los programas mas vistos de la television estadounidense de origen cubano del programa homónimo en español, el que fue “El show de Cristina”.

Cristina nació en Miramar, Cuba, de Francisco René Saralegui, Jr. y Cristina Santamarina. Es la mayor de cinco, tenía dos hermanas, Vicky y María Eugenia, y dos hermanos, Patxi e Iñaki. Ella es de ascendencia española de los cuatro abuelos.

Nacida el 29 de enero de 1948, Crstina se crió a imagen estricta de su abuelo, el editor de la revista Don Francisco Saralegui, conocido en toda América Latina como “El zar del papel”. Introdujo a Cristina joven al periodismo.

En 1960, a la edad de 11 años, Cristina dejó Cuba para comenzar de nuevo en la comunidad de exiliados cubanos de Miami. Asistió a la Universidad de Miami, especializándose en comunicaciones masivas y escritura creativa, mientras comenzaba una pasantía con Vanidades, la revista de mujeres # 1 en América Latina.

Cristina Maria Saralegui is a Cuban-born American journalist, television personality, actress and talk show host of what it was one of most popular and best of the Spanish-language eponymous show, El show de Cristina.

Cristina was born in Miramar, Havana, Cuba, to Francisco Rene Saralegui, Jr. and Cristina Santamarina. She is the eldest of five, she had two sisters Vicky and María Eugenia, as well as two brothers, Patxi and Iñaki. She is of Spanish descent from all four grandparents.

Cristina held this position for ten years until she resigned to become Executive Producer and host of “El Show de Cristina.”

With the success of her Spanish-language television show, Cristina decided to test the waters of the English-speaking market by hosting and producing (in association with CBS Television Group) “The Cristina Show” in English.

During the summer of 1992, her TV show aired for a limited 13-week run. The show, distributed nationally by Columbia Pictures Television, generated very respectable ratings in addition to receiving a favorable reaction from the press.

Cristina is managed by her husband, Marcos Avila, a former musician and one of the founding members of the highly successful musical group “Gloria Estefan and The Miami Sound Machine.” The couple resides in Miami Beach with their three children.
