Netflix has adapted Joyce Carol Oates’s 2000 novel of the same title, a reimagined version of the actress and singer’s life, for the film, which is currently shooting in Los Angeles.

Brad Pitt is one of the producers of the movie, which is being directed by Andrew Dominik, who was behind Pitt hit, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Adrien Brody is listed as portraying The Playwright, who we assume will represent Arthur Miller, while Bobby Cannavale will play Joe DiMaggio and Caspar Phillipson has been cast as The President, presumably John F Kennedy.

Monroe was with DiMaggio for a little under two years from 1953 until 1954 but married for just eight months. She was then married to Miller from 1956 until 1961, and allegedly with Kennedy for nine months from August 1961. The actress and singer later were later connected to Robert F Kennedy, JFK’s younger brother, who does not appear to be represented in the movie, as of yet.

“Thinking of you today, Norma Jeane. You’ve never been more present and closer to my heart. Thank you,” de Armas captioned a post of Monroe playfully holding a flower in her teeth on August 5. She also paid tribute to the actress on her June 1 birthday this year, when she would have been getting into character ahead of the shoot.
