Cuba se pinta de “Abbey Road” en homenaje a los Beatles. En la Habana, Cuba se decidieron tener su propio recuerdo de los Beatles y Abbey Road fue la inspiración para este homenaje a la banda británica.

Cuba decidió unirse al mítico aniversario del lanzamiento de uno de los álbumes más representativos de los Beatles, Abbey Road material con el que el famoso cuarteto de liverpool cerrará con broche de oro su participación juntos.

La legendaría banda británica los Beatles aún se mantienen vigentes hasta la fecha en los gustos de cientos de fanáticos de todo el mundo.

En Cuba todo era muy diferente en la década de 1960, cuando se acusó a los Beatles de ser una suerte de agentes de la cultura capitalista que distraían a la juventud cubana de su tarea revolucionaria.

Sus discos fueron censurados, su música no se pasaba por la radio y a los jóvenes rockeros se le obligaba a cortarse el cabello. Pero las grabaciones de los Beatles pasaban de mano en mano y se escuchaban de manera subterránea en contra del deseo de los funcionarios.

Esa prohibición no fue obstáculo, más bien le dio fuerza y progresaron en su música y en sus ideas”, dijo José Lago, de 33 años, un admirador de los Beatles quien llegó para homenajear a sus ídolos. “Ellos defendieron su forma de pensar y la historia demostró que no estaban tan equivocados porque perduran hasta nuestros días”.

Medio siglo después Abbey Road todavía resuena en los corazones de sus fans y en cada rincon hasta donde sus letras llegaron.

El célebre cruce peatonal de Abbey Road que fuera la icónica portada del disco titulado bajo el mismo nombre y emblema de la ciudad londinense fue la misma inspiración que actualmente llevó a una calle en La Habana, Cuba para rendir un homenaje a la banda que revolucionó a una sociedad e impusó una ideología.

Además de simular la popular “cebra peatonal” la cual conmemora junto a la estatua de Jhon Lennon situada en uno de los parques de dicha ciudad la cual se vistió de fiesta al realizar una serie de homenajes con conciertos y otros actos el pasado jueves por la noche rindiendo un tributo al representativo álbum del grupo británico.

Asimismo, en cuanto a la estatua de Jhon Lennon fue un gesto cargado de simbolismo para los cubanos, colocada en diciembre del 2000 en una céntrica plaza capitalina.

In addition to simulating the popular “pedestrian zebra” which commemorates next to the statue of John Lennon located in one of the parks of that city which dressed as a party to perform a series of tributes with concerts and other events last Thursday for the night paying tribute to the representative album of the British group.

Likewise, as for the statue of Jhon Lennon, it was a gesture full of symbolism for the Cubans, placed in December 2000 in a central capital square.
