Juliana Magaly Carlés Pacheco nace el 17 de agosto de 1950 en La Habana. Desde muy pequeña tuvo una gran inclinación por la música; estudió teoría, solfeo y canto con Zenaida Romeu y Mariana de Gonitch. Perteneció al cuarteto Los Orates. Es cantante y actriz.

En 1967 comienza su vida artística como solista presentándose en el programa de televisión Música y Estrellas y en 1976 integra con el cantante Luis Nodal un dúo que gozó de gran aceptación, con quien protagonizó el musical 50 años de amor y en el que ella sobresalió por el manejo de su voz en el registro agudo y el alto nivel de improvisación. El dúo nutrió su repertorio con canciones cubanas e internacionales con elementos de la música pop; grabó discos y realizó presentaciones en la radio y la televisión cubanas, salas teatrales y concursos como el “Adolfo Guzmán”. Fueron invitados a participar en el Festival de Dresde en 1976 y a visitar Angola en 1978.

A partir de 1987, Luis Nodal se convirtió en el empresario y director artístico de la cantante al retomar ésta la línea de trabajo de sus años iniciales como solista, y pasa a ser, desde entonces, una de las cantantes más populares del país, capaz de abordar canciones, valses, tangos, blues, jazz, sones, música salsa; y a diversos autores como Gonzalo Roig, Ernesto Lecuona, Adolfo Guzmán, Rembert Egües, Amaury Pérez, Barry Manilow, Quince Jones, y cantar en varios idiomas.

En 1990 actuó en el programa Boom del canal 1 de la televisión francesa; luego lo hizo en el espacio que anima Patrick Sebastián en la catedral de Notre-Dame; del 1 de julio al 20 de septiembre estuvo en el Aux Trois Mailletz de París.

Se exilió en Miami el 31 de enero de 1993.

Entre sus principales canciones ha grabado: ‘Hoy voy a inventarte mío’, letra y música de José D. García Alonso (Chein García); ‘Una rosa en mi puerta’; ‘Me haces falta’; ‘Canto, amo y sueño’, de Bebu Silvetti y su esposa Sylvia Riera Ibanez; ‘Yo soy una mujer’, de Jesús Rafael; ‘Páginas blancas’, de Concha Valdés Miranda; ‘Libre al fin’, música de Juan Carlos González y letra de ella.

Maggie se casó con el actor Iván Colás con quien tuvo a su hijo Iván, y después de divorciada contrajo matrimonio con el también cantante Luis Noda, el 15 de marzo de 1973, con quien tuvo a su segundo hijo.

Premios
Obtuvo el Primer Lugar y el Premio a la Mejor Interpretación en el Festival de la Canción de Sopot, Bulgaria, en 1988, y el Premio Especial de Interpretación en el Festival de Mesam, Yugoslavia, 1989.

Actuaciones
Ha actuado junto a Gloria Gaynor, Sting y Petula Clark en el Festival de Vigo, España, y con Álvaro Torres en el Dade County Auditorium, con una orquesta dirigida por George Hernández y Al Smith

Juliana Magaly Carlés Pacheco was born on August 17, 1950, in Havana. From a very young age, she had a great inclination for music; she studied theory, music theory and singing with Zenaida Romeu and Mariana de Gonitch. It belonged to the Los Orates quartet. She is a singer and actress.

In 1967 she began her artistic life as a soloist performing in the television program Music and Stars and in 1976 she integrated with the singer Luis Nodal a duo that enjoyed great acceptance, with whom she starred in the musical 50 years of love and in which she excelled for the handling of her voice in the acute register and the high level of improvisation. The duo nurtured their repertoire with Cuban and international songs with elements of pop music; she recorded albums and made presentations on Cuban radio and television, theater halls and contests such as “Adolfo Guzmán”. They were invited to participate in the Dresden Festival in 1976 and to visit Angola in 1978.

From 1987, Luis Nodal became the entrepreneur and artistic director of the singer when she resumed the line of work of her early years as a soloist, and becomes, since then, one of the most popular singers in the country, capable to address songs, waltzes, tangos, blues, jazz, sones, salsa music; and to various authors such as Gonzalo Roig, Ernesto Lecuona, Adolfo Guzmán, Rembert Egües, Amaury Pérez, Barry Manilow, Fifteen Jones, and singing in several languages.

In 1990 she acted in the Boom program of channel 1 of French television; then she did it in the space that encourages Patrick Sebastian in the Notre-Dame cathedral; From July 1 to September 20 she was at the Aux Trois Mailletz in Paris.

She went into exile in Miami on January 31, 1993.
