Del Museo del Prado en España al de Bellas Artes de Cuba, por primera vez un Goya hace este recorrido para prestigiar las paredes de la institución cultural radicada en una Habana de 500 años.

Con motivo de la visita de los Reyes de España, don Felipe y doña Letizia, a La Habana del 12 al 14 de noviembre, el lienzo conocido como autorretrato tardío, de un Goya de 69 años, será exhibido por un mes en Cuba.

Según señaló Jorge Fernández, director del Museo de Bellas Artes de Cuba, la idea es el resultado de una charla con el embajador de España en Cuba y de varias conversaciones con representantes del Prado, institución cultural más importante de España y de las más reconocidas de Europa que cumple este año su 200 aniversario.

En conferencia de prensa Fernández se refirió a los motivos que llevaron a elegir a Goya entre los pintores españoles y sostuvo que el artista aragonés tiene más vínculo con la isla que otros grandes maestros por su relación con la Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando y el modelo de la Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes de San Alejandro, en La Habana.

Asimismo señaló que la educación artística en la nación europea, sirvió de referencia a la habanera, por lo cual esta oportunidad constituye un lujo para que críticos, estudiantes, profesores y público en general puedan acercarse a una obra de la que seguramente aprenderán mucho.

El director del museo cubano destacó como la presencia del Narciso de Caravaggio en 2012, incrementó las visitas a la entidad, lo cual se espera se repita con esta muestra, pues la colección española es una de la más numerosas entre las obras europeas, pero Goya no está representado.

De acuerdo con Jorge Peralta, agregado cultural de la Embajada de España en Cuba esta no es la primera vez que la pieza viaja a América, previamente estuvo en Estados Unidos y en los últimos 20 años ha estado en más de una decena de exposiciones en este continente.

El autorretrato del pintor español, calificado como el último clásico y el primer moderno, con una obra que marcó un punto de giro entre la historia y la actualidad, estará abierto al público a partir del 14 de noviembre, tras la presentación especial para los reyes.
