La actriz cubana Teté Machado nació un 3 de Febrero de 1942 en la Habana, es una distinguida cantante, modelo y actriz.

Comenzó como modelo en tiendas, revistas, cabarets y televisión en La Habana, en anuncios del refresco Green Spot, el detergente ACE, los televisores Almiral, las ventanas Venecianas, la línea de cosmético Reblón, el champú Prell, los colchones Air Foarm, los cigarrillos Partagás en el programa Partagás del canal 6, y fue figura del show del Cabaret Montmartre.

Fue actriz protagonista de más de 10 novelas, del programa La Novela Gravy en el canal 6 CMQ; actriz de comedias de varios shows televisivos junto a Dick y Biondi, Arau y Corona, y Leopoldo Fernández (Trespatines).

En el cine fue la dama joven del filme ‘Ole Cuba’ junto con Leopoldo Fernández, Aníbal de Mar y Mimí Cal, entre otros grandes artistas.
Su última novela en Cuba antes de marchar definitivamente al exilio fue “La Rebelión de la Juventud” junto con Raquel Revuelta, Manolo Coego, Rolandito Barral y Odalys Fuentes.

Apareciendo en siete portadas de la revista Bohemia, la más leída de Cuba, siendo la última vez la que hace referencia a su personaje en la
telenovela llamado “Olga Lydia” con un pie de foto que decía: “Tete Machado.

Rinde de actriz gran faena y en la Olga Lydia hace gala de dominio de la escena. Una pregunta esto avala: ¿Porqué Olga Lydia es tan mala, siendo esta Teté tan buena?” En Puerto Rico trabajó en la novela televisiva “El silencio de una madre”. Como cantante dio conciertos en varios países de América Latina, así como en los Estados Unidos.

En 1967 trabajó en el Johnny 88 situado en la calle 36 del North West entre 27 y 28 Ave, en Miami, donde Rubén Ríos “Míster Pachanga” se estaba presentando en una producción musical de Gustavo Roig, donde además participaban, July del Río, Graciela Bohr esposa de Felo Bohr, Luisita Rodríguez, que después se mudó a Chicago, Clarita Castillo, y Esmeralda, vedette cubana que había acabado de llegar de Panamá.
La producción se llamaba, ‘Las 6 Lindas Cubanas’.

En 1969 estuvo en un exitoso show en Los Globos, de México. Tiene un papel muy bien criticado por los especialistas su participación en la obra “Cada quien su vida” en el Salón Teatralde La Terraza, México, dirigida por Fernando Wagner, y de autoría de Luis G. Basurto, junto con actrices como Ana Luisa Peluffo y Carmen Salinas. Wagner calificó el papel de Teté Machado en el papel de La Borracha, de “magnífica caracterización”. Otras de sus más aplaudidas presentaciones y recitales que se ecuerdan: Shows en el Chateau Madrid de New York con arreglos de Julio Gutiérrez; shows en Los Violines de New York con Facundo Rivero y Julio Gutiérrez; show en El Safari de Nicaragua, con orquesta de Raúl Traña Ocampo; shows en El Red Feather de New York; Show en el café teatro Tabú de Miami Beach; Show en el Havana Village de New York; Show en Lola’s Discotheque de New York con Julio Gutiérrez. Show en Copacabana de Miami con Luis de la Torre; Recital en el Green House de Puerto Rico, con Vanessa Cruz y su grupo; además su mini biografía musical (Su vida en 17 canciones) en un concierto en el exclusivo Copacabana de Miami.

El 7 de marzo 1982, se presentó un espectáculo llamado “La Nueva Teté Machado en Concierto” desarrollándose en el exclusivo club privado Chantel, enBrickell Ave de Miami, bajo la dirección del maestro Roberto Lozano. Trabajó mucho por la unidad y reconocimiento de los artistas cubanos exiliados.

Es en su residencia en el North East de Miami donde se funda el primer Sindicato de Artistas Cubanos en el Exilio, con la participación de la gran directora de teatro María Julia Casanova, el primer actor Otto Sirgo, y también los grandes actores Rosendo Rosell, Hada Béjar, Tito Hernández, Enrique Montaña, Marta Pérez y la propia Tete Machado, entre otros.

La revista Vanidades, año II, No. 1, en edición especial dedicada a la mujer, la incluye entre las 14 mujeres que fueron noticia en 1975 junto a grandes divas como Betty Ford, Primera Dama de los Estados Unidos; Ingrid Bergman, actriz, ganadora de varios Oscar; Teté Machado, actriz de cine y televisión y cantante cubana; Olivia Newton-John, cantante y actriz; Rita Moreno, actriz puertorriqueña; Cristina Onassis, multimillonaria griega; Bette Midler, actriz y cantante norteamericana; Esther Vilar, escritora germano-argentina, entre otras.

Fue elogiada por Nick Lapole quien escribió muy favorablemente sobre su show en el New York Journal American: “Also starring was Tete Machado, a song and dance girl who occupied a niche in Cuba similar to the one that B. Bardot calls her own in France. Señorita Machado, well-formed with a luxuriant mop of dark hair, performed in an odd sort of costume that drew gasps from the ladies in the audience and Knowing glances from the men”.

Por algo el prestigioso cubano Otto Sirgo, Sr., uno de los mejores actores hispanohablante, quien asistió a Los Violines de New York donde cantaba Tete Machado y escribió en una servilleta sobre la mesa un poema: “Grito amargo de una queja/que entre sollozos se escapa:/profundo dolor callado/de una angustia que no deja/asomar a las pupilas/todo el llanto en que se escapa, /su corazón destrozado!/Alegría enmascarada/de una tortura infinita/que nadie sabe encontrar/en esta voz bronca y baja, ocultando en su temblor/la tristeza de pensar/ que el mundo que ella entretiene/no se puede imaginar/que Tete, canta al llorar, /porque lágrimas no tiene”.
