Celio Adan González Ascencio, artisticamente conocido solo como Celio González nació en Camajuani, Cuba un 29 de Enero de 1929.

Se distinguió desde muy joven por su accionar con conjuntos musicales en el sector, donde se destacó a pesar de haber perdidó una mano en un accidente, aun así tocaba varios instrumentos que acompañaban siempre a sus interpretaciones.

Celio se distinguió como cantante cuando ocupó un lugar como uno de sus musicos con la conocida orquesta cubana la Sonora Matancera donde fue firmado por su director Rogelio Martinez. Fue conocido tambien en lo artistico como “El Satanas de Cuba”.

Cabe recordar que La Sonora Matancera, la cual en sus inicios ambientó fiestas familiares y eventos políticos poco a poco fue llenando grandes lugares con su música teniendo tan solo como base un piano, un contrabajo, una conga, timbales y 2 trompetas instrumentos suficientes para poner a los presentes a mover los pies desde las primera notas.

En 1959 en un viaje artistico a Mexico se asilo y donde continuó su carrera. Participó junto a destacados artistas de México en películas como ‘Camino al Infierno’ en 1987 y ‘La Diosa del Puerto’ en 1989. En la ciudad de Nueva York actuó durante los años 60s en varios Clubs artisticos, entre los que se recuerdan uno, “El Torero” en Broadway junto al destacado pianista cubano Julio Gutierrez.

Estuvo casado a Martha Torres, ambos tuvieron 2 hijos, mas tarde se divorcio de su esposa. Uno de sus hijos Celio Gonzalez Jr. se distinguió en el mundo artistico tambien como su padre. siendo un destacado baterista.

Celio Gonzalez murió en la Ciudad Mexico el 17 de Octubre de l 2004 donde reposan sus restos.
