Las Terrazas es una pequeña comunidad y reserva natural en el municipio de Candelaria, provincia de Artemisa, Cuba. Está ubicado en las montañas de la Sierra del Rosario (parte de la cordillera Guaniguanico), que fue designada Reserva de la Biosfera por la UNESCO en 1984.
El pueblo tiene una población de aproximadamente 1,000 y “Las Terrazas” se plantó en las colinas circundantes (deforestadas) mediante la construcción de terrazas para evitar la erosión; de ahí el nombre terrazas.
La reserva es rica en flora y fauna e incluye lagos, ríos, cascadas y paisajes paradisíacos, ruinas, historia, cascadas, deportes extremos y fauna exuberante.
Ubicada en el corazón de la Sierra del Rosario, con inmuebles de cafetales franceses del siglo XIX. Resultado de la vinculación entre reserva de la biosfera y sus habitantes, el proyecto posee un alto valor histórico, natural y arquitectónico en cinco mil 300 hectáreas de lomas, pertenecientes a la provincia Artemisa, lo cual le ha valido su título como paraje patrimonial.
Asimismo, la declaratoria exalta los diversos sitios como Aranjuez, sede del sexto cuerpo del Ejército Libertador, así como otros inmuebles asociados al patrimonio tangible e inmaterial de dicho paisaje.
Como centro ecológico de excelencia, reserva y monumento natural es similar a otros parajes de la zona como Soroa, ubicado a 17 kilómetros al oeste del lugar. Los ríos San Juan y el Bayate atraviesan el parque con saltos de agua, así como varios lagos o pocetas devenidos en verdadero espectáculo para los sentidos, en armonía con una comunidad rural siguiendo las ondulaciones del terreno.
Entre los atractivos del lugar destaca el Canopy Tour, primero de su tipo instalado en el país, seguido por el del Valle de Viñales (Pinar del Río), también reserva de biosfera y que consiste en un viaje aéreo deslizándose por cables de acero a lo largo de casi un kilómetro.
Bordeando la loma El Taburete, los visitantes pueden descubrir las ruinas de las haciendas cafetaleras San Idelfonso y Content, mientras en la ladera occidental del valle del río San Juan pueden transitar por La Serafina, Las Delicias y El Terracero.
Por otra parte, resaltan los restos de la finca Santa Catalina a las orillas del rio Bayate, la loma El Taburete a 452 metros de altura, y una excepcional vista de las costas norte y sur, por estar situada en la parte más estrecha del país.
Las Terrazas constituyen un paisaje parasidiaco de nuestra republica cubana.

Las Terrazas is a small community and nature reserve in the municipality of Candelaria, province of Artemisa, Cuba. It is located in the mountains of the Sierra del Rosario (part of the Guaniguanico mountain range), which was designated a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1984.
The town has a population of approximately 1,000 and “Las Terrazas” was planted in the surrounding hills (deforested) by building terraces to prevent erosion; hence the name terraces.
The reserve is rich in flora and fauna and includes lakes, rivers, waterfalls and paradisiacal landscapes, ruins, history, waterfalls, extreme sports, and lush wildlife.
Located in the heart of the Sierra del Rosario, with French coffee plantations from the 19th century. As a result of the link between the biosphere reserve and its inhabitants, the project has a high historical, natural and architectural value in five thousand 300 hectares of hills, belonging to the Artemisa province, which has earned its title as a heritage site.
Likewise, the declaration exalts the various sites such as Aranjuez, headquarters of the sixth body of the Liberating Army, as well as other properties associated with the tangible and intangible heritage of the said landscape.
As an ecological center of excellence, reserve and a natural monument are similar to other places in the area such as Soroa, located 17 kilometers west of the place. The San Juan and Bayate rivers cross the park with waterfalls, as well as several lakes or pots become a true spectacle for the senses, in harmony with a rural community following the undulations of the land.
Among the attractions of the place stands out the Canopy Tour, the first of its kind installed in the country, followed by that of the Viñales Valley (Pinar del Río), also a biosphere reserve and that consists of an air trip sliding through steel cables almost a kilometer long.
Bordering the El Stool hill, visitors can discover the ruins of the San Idelfonso and Content coffee farms, while on the western slope of the San Juan River valley they can pass through La Serafina, Las Delicias and El Terracero.
On the other hand, the remains of the Santa Catalina estate stand out on the banks of the Bayate River, the El Taburete hill at 452 meters high, and an exceptional view of the north and south coasts, being located in the narrowest part of the country.
Las Terrazas constitute a parasidiaco landscape of our Cuban republic.
