EL BUQUE PANAMEÑO ‘Carlota C’, sancionado en 2019 por el gobierno de Estados Unidos por despachar gasolina desde Venezuela hacia Cuba, se mantiene operativo con nuevo nombre y una bandera diferente. Datos del sitio web de rastreo marítimo marinetraffic.com indican que fue renombrado como ‘María Cristina’ y navega ahora bajo bandera cubana, lo que supone pasó a formar parte del Gobierno cubano, no se sabe bajo que terminos.

Según una fuente vinculada al sector petrolero, a esto se le conoce como “rebanderamiento” y sería uno de los mecanismos utilizados por los regímenes de Venezuela y Cuba para evadir las sanciones impuestas por las autoridades estadounidenses. De esa manera se mantiene abierto el canal de envío de petróleo y otros insumos petroquímicos hacia la isla.

Su capacidad de carga es de 16 mil 906 toneladas y su calado actual es de 5,4 metros; además, tiene una longitud total de 144 metros y 23 metros de ancho, se detalla en el perfil publicado por el sitio web de rastreo marítimo.

Una segunda fuente interna de PDVSA señaló que la refinería El Palito, a pesar de no estar en la capacidad de producir gasolina actualmente ante la inoperatividad de su planta de craqueo catalítico, sí ha logrado obtener Jet A-1, un derivado más pesado que no requiere tanto calentamiento en el reactor ni una gran cantidad de aditivos.

Por otra parte, desde el 21 de mayo se encuentra en el muelle de la refinería carabobeña el buque de petróleo crudo ‘Petion’, que estaría siendo cargado con fuel oil para ser despachado hacia la isla. Este tanquero, sancionado por EE.UU., cuenta con una capacidad de carga de 72 mil 714 toneladas, ocho metros de calado y navega bajo la bandera de Panamá.

El Petion, pertenece a Trocana World y está operado por la compañía Caroil Transport Marine, registrada en Chipre. Ambas empresas están bajo control del hermano del general de brigada Luis Alberto Rodríguez López-Callejas, miembro del Comité Central del Partido Comunista de Cuba y jefe del V Departamento de las FAR, además de exyerno de Raúl Castro y director de Gaesa, el consorcio empresarial de los militares en la Isla.

La empresa Caroil Transport Marine Ltd, propietaria y operadora entonces de ‘Carlota C’ (Hoy Maria Cristina) y ‘Petion’, fue sancionada por la Oficina de Control de Activos Extranjeros (OFAC, por sus siglas en inglés) del Departamento del Tesoro de EE.UU. en 2019, por transportar petróleo y otros productos petroleros desde Venezuela hacia Cuba, en transacciones que involucraban a las también sancionadas compañías estatales PDVSA y Cubametales.

“En agosto de 2019, ambas empresas y funcionarios cubanos organizaron el envío de gasolina desde El Palito, Venezuela, hacia Cuba. Más tarde, Carlota C viajó de Venezuela a la refinería de petróleo del puerto de La Habana en Cuba”, informó la OFAC en su sitio web.
