RELEASE OF HIS POWERFUL DISC “RECURRING DREAM”
Today, the unique Cuban experimental music duo, Ibeyi, released their single ‘Recurring Dream’, a song that Franco-Cuban artists wrote and composed for Ed Morris’s feature film ‘How to Stop a Recurring Dream’.
Like Cleo’sWho Takes Care Of You’, Ibeyi’s new song ‘Recurring Dream’ is attached to a movie. Morris’s film is about a teenage girl who kidnaps her younger sister and runs away from her to avoid family separation. The production is his debut as a feature film director.
Nor is it the first collaboration between the artists and the filmmaker. In 2014 Morris directed the videos for the songs River, Ghosts and Deathless for Ibeyi.
“Working with Morris has always been special to us. Our favorite Ibeyi music videos were created by her beautiful brain. We were baptizing ourselves in a water tank in ‘River’ or giving us light in immortality. We felt from the first moment that he understood our music and she knew how to translate it into powerful imagery. So when she told us about her movie, we knew we wanted to write a song for her that would hopefully serve her vision, “the sisters wrote on Instagram.
The duo of twin sisters Naomi and Lisa-Kaindé Díaz, daughters of the legendary Cuban percussionist Miguel “Angá” Díaz, has not released any single since Cleo ‘Who Takes Care Of You’, in 2019, as part of a compilation album of songs inspired by the film ‘Roma’, by the Mexican Alfonso Cuarón.
Recurring Dream is an interesting composition that includes pop and contemplative electronics, very similar to Björk’s work. XL Recordings director Richard Russell produced the track. Russell previously collaborated with the Ibeyi as part of their Everything Is Recorded project.
The duo’s last studio album, ‘Ash’, was released in 2017 and ranked 28th among the best albums of the year, according to the renowned music critic portal Pitchfork Media.

How to Stop a Recurring Dream’.
