UNITED STATES EMBASSY IN HAVANA ANNOUNCES NEW JOBS AVAILABLE.
The U.S. Embassy in Cuba shared an announcement about various job opportunities at its headquarters. As reported in the link of the announcement, since this month the Embassy of the United States in Havana implemented the Electronic Contracting System (ERA, for its acronym in English).

Therefore, to know the list of all the positions available in the Embassy and to apply, those interested will need to do so on their ERA site.
According to the official website of the diplomatic headquarters, applicants need to have permission from the Government of Cuba to work on the island.
In essence, two groups are included: Cuban citizens or legal residents and the diplomatic corps.
In the case of the diplomatic corps, it is specified that it refers to those accredited by the Cuban government as diplomats or their relatives. In any case, applicants will be asked to provide documentation proving their legal right to work in Cuba.
Additionally, the United States Embassy in Havana explains to applicants that they will need to go through a security investigation prior to their appointment, should they be selected for a position.
Some took the announcement from the U.S. Embassy in Cuba as a sign of a future reopening of consular services on the island.
FOR APPLICANT CUBAN CITIZENS
All Cuban citizen applicants must be approved and hired by the Cuban employment agency, PALCO, before working at the United States Embassy.
The Embassy of the United States in Havana states that it provides equal opportunities and fair and equitable treatment in employment to all people without distinction of race, color, religion, sex, nationality, age, disability, political affiliation, marital status, or sexual orientation.
From their website, they explain that it is important to review the conditions of the vacant jobs to make sure that you meet all the eligibility and qualification requirements. In addition, they clarify that as mentioned in the job advertisements, all the required documentation must be included at the time of application.
When reviewing the ERA site, the following jobs offered to appear:
Information Assistant (Media) / All Interested Candidates – All Sources
Information Assistant (Webmaster) / All Interested Candidates – All Sources
Resource Coordination Specialist / All Interested Candidates – All Sources
In all three cases, the deadline to apply is April 6, 2021.
It is specified for employment opportunities that are full-time (39 hours per week).
They reiterate that all candidates will have to go through Palco’s “security filter” in an additional process that can generally take 90 days. Regarding the start date at work, they point out that the candidate must be able to start working within a reasonable period of time (6 weeks) after receiving the corresponding authorizations or certifications.
A source from the State Department said that this is a regular procedure and does not mean any change in the consular services of the embassy.

EMBAJADA DE ESTADOS UNIDOS EN LA HABANA ANUNCIA NUEVOS EMPLEOS DISPONIBLES
La Embajada de Estados Unidos en Cuba compartió un anuncio sobre varias oportunidades de empleo en su sede. Según refieren en el enlace del anuncio, desde este mes la Embajada de los Estados Unidos en La Habana implementó el Sistema Electrónico de Contrataciones (ERA, por sus siglas en inglés).

Por tanto, para conocer la lista de todos los puestos disponibles en la Embajada y postularse, los interesados necesitarán hacerlo en su sitio de ERA.
Según la página oficial de la sede diplomática, los solicitantes necesitan tener permiso del Gobierno de Cuba para trabajar en en la isla.
En esencia, se incluyen dos grupos: ciudadanos cubanos o residentes legales y el cuerpo diplomático.
En el caso del cuerpo diplomático se especifica que se refiere a aquellos acreditados por el gobierno cubano como diplomáticos o sus familiares. En cualquier caso, se les pedirá a los solicitantes que proporcionen documentación que demuestre su derecho legal a trabajar en Cuba.
Además, la Embajada de Estados Unidos en La Habana explica a los solicitantes que deberán pasar por una investigación de seguridad antes de su cita, en caso de ser seleccionados para un puesto.
Algunos tomaron el anuncio de la Embajada de Estados Unidos en Cuba como una señal de una futura reapertura de los servicios consulares en la isla.
PARA CIUDADANOS CUBANOS SOLICITANTES
Todos los ciudadanos cubanos solicitantes deberán ser aprobados y contratados por la agencia de empleo cubana, PALCO, antes de trabajar en la Embajada de los Estados Unidos.
La Embajada de los Estados Unidos en La Habana refiere que brinda igualdad de oportunidades y trato justo y equitativo en el empleo a todas las personas sin distinción de raza, color, religión, sexo, nacionalidad, edad, discapacidad, afiliación política, estado civil u orientación sexual.
Desde su web explican que es importante revisar las condiciones de los empleos vacantes para asegurarse de que cumple con todos los requisitos de elegibilidad y calificación. Además, aclaran que tal y como se menciona en los anuncios de empleo, toda la documentación requerida debe incluirse en el momento de la solicitud.
Al revisar el sitio ERA aparecen las siguientes empleos ofrecidos:

En los tres casos la fecha límite para postularse es el 6 de abril de 2021.
Se especifica para las oportunidades de empleo que son a tiempo completo (39 horas a la semana).
Reiteran que todos los candidatos deberán pasar por el “filtro de seguridad” de Palco en un proceso adicional que generalmente puede llevar 90 días. Sobre la fecha de inicio en el trabajo, señalan que el candidato debe poder comenzar a trabajar dentro de un período de tiempo razonable (6 semanas) después de recibir las autorizaciones o certificaciones correspondientes.
Una fuente del Departamento de Estado dijo que este es un procedimiento regular y no significa ningún cambio en los servicios consulares de la embajada.
