JAPAN DONATES TRANSPORTATION AND AGRICULTURAL EQUIPMENT TO CUBA FOR MORE THAN $50 MILLION. PHOTOS/VIDEOS.
A donation of 84 buses for the public transport service in Havana will arrive in the capital of Cuba from Japan, through a Non-Refundable Financial Aid plan of the Japanese government.
The economic-commercial counselor of the Cuban representation in Japan, Katia Monzón, and Takuma Momoi, an official of JICS (Japan International Cooperation System) verified the execution of the donations, indicated the Embassy of Cuba in Japan.
Donations correspond to tranches 3 and 4 of financial aid. “The 84 vehicles corresponding to section 3 are already manufactured in Colombia and must arrive in the Greater Antilles between the months of July and September of this year,” detailed the Cuban consular service on social networks.
According to her, the maintenance team should leave Japan on the 26th of this month and arrive in Cuba on July 18. “Meanwhile, the execution of the donation of the 4th tranche is progressing according to the agreed schedule,” she pointed out.
In 2019, Cuba and Japan signed legal documents to formalize a donation of more than 30 million dollars to improve electricity service and transportation on the Antillean island.
In the middle of last year, the Asian nation also donated machinery to the Cuban government to increase agricultural production – specifically, obtaining quality rice seeds – valued at almost 10 million dollars.
The batch comprised almost fifty self-propelled transplanting machines, 42 harvesters, 41 tray seeders for seed production, and 199 tractors for muddying the rice-growing areas.
Shortly after, Japan donated equipment to the Agroindustrial Company of Granos Sur del Jíbaro, in the province of Sancti Spíritus. The entity received 40 tractors for the preparation of the land, 10 combined small harvesters, nine rice transplanters, six tray seeders and these containers for planting.
Cuba has suffered for years a public transport crisis that today is also affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Recently, an interviewed bus driver blamed Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel for the crowds of people in buses amid the complex epidemiological situation. “Hungry people cannot stay indoors. It’s not people’s fault that you can’t get oil for the buses. The only culprit is you and your government, “said the driver.

Un donativo de 84 ómnibus para el servicio de transporte público en La Habana llegará a la capital de Cuba procedente de Japón, a través de un plan de Ayuda Financiera No Reembolsable del gobierno nipón.
La consejera económico-comercial de la representación de Cuba en Japón, Katia Monzón, y Takuma Momoi, funcionario de JICS (Japan International Cooperation System) comprobaron la ejecución de los donativos, indicó la Embajada de Cuba en Japón.
Los donativos corresponden a los tramos 3 y 4 de la ayuda financiera. “Los 84 vehículos correspondientes al tramo 3 ya se encuentran fabricados en Colombia y deben arribar a la Mayor de las Antillas entre los meses de julio y septiembre del presente año”, detalló el servicio consular cubano en redes sociales.
Según refirió, el equipo de mantenimiento deberá salir de Japón el día 26 del presente mes y arribar a Cuba el 18 de julio. “Mientras tanto, la ejecución del donativo del 4to tramo está marchando de acuerdo al cronograma acordado”, apuntó.
En 2019, Cuba y Japón firmaron documentos jurídicos para oficializar una donación de más de 30 millones de dólares para mejorar el servicio eléctrico y el transporte en la isla antillana.
A mediados del año pasado, la nación asiática también donó al gobierno cubano maquinaria destinada a incrementar la producción agrícola –concretamente la obtención de semillas de arroz de calidad–, valorada en casi 10 millones de dólares.
El lote abarcaba casi medio centenar de máquinas trasplantadoras autopropulsadas, 42 cosechadoras, 41 sembradoras de bandejas para la producción de posturas y 199 tractores para el fangueo de las áreas arroceras.
Poco después, Japón donó equipos a la Empresa Agroindustrial de Granos Sur del Jíbaro, en la provincia de Sancti Spíritus. La entidad recibió 40 tractores para la preparación de la tierra, 10 combinadas cosechadoras pequeñas, nueve trasplantadoras de arroz, seis sembradoras de bandeja y dichos recipientes para la siembra.
Cuba padece desde hace años una crisis del transporte público que hoy se ve afectada además por la pandemia del coronavirus. Recientemente, un conductor de ómnibus entrevistado culpó al gobernante cubano Miguel Díaz-Canel por las aglomeraciones de personas en las guaguas en medio de la compleja situación epidemiológica. “La gente con hambre no se puede quedar dentro de la casa. La gente no tiene la culpa de que tú no puedas conseguir petróleo para las guaguas. El único culpable eres tú y tu gobierno”, expresó el chofer.
