SOME OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL LANDSCAPES IN CUBA. PHOTOS.
While it is true that making a list with the Top 10 of Cuban landscapes is truly difficult due to the variety and quantity of beautiful scenery, it is also true that each one has his or her predilection. Hence, this journalist prepared his proposal considering color, environmental protection, and potential.
It is good to consider that 14 National Parks, six Biosphere Reserves, six Ramsar Sites, two World Natural Heritage Sites, and 28 Important Bird Conservation Areas (IBAs) appear in the landscape of this archipelago.
Therefore, we will order the list from the geographical point of view, from west to east, and not in terms of preponderance as landscape.
1. PINAR DEL RÍO
Pinar del Río is a magical region. Ideal for walks linked to nature, it is an area where green stands out above any other color.
For Cubans, in addition to the westernmost province of the island, it symbolizes the homeland of the best tobacco in the world, there the leaves are harvested for the layer of cigars, where a true natural jewel is treated with passion by farmers.
Pinar del Río is that and much more, as reflected by travelers from all over the world, and also has some charms that it is good to exemplify, in particular three scenarios that mark a very special map, devised from the tastes of many tourists adventurers.
2. MAGIC HAVANA
Definitively founded in 1519 in the shade of a lush tree, a ceiba, Havana became a very cosmopolitan city loaded with travelers from all over the world eager to get to know it in depth.

3.- THE CIENAGA OF ZAPATA
One of the most surprising trips to Cuba is related to the Ciénaga de Zapata, an important wetland, with a great record of flora and fauna, a true feast for a traveler looking for adventure.
It is one of the most interesting places in the country, in the southwestern region of the island, with an exceptional panorama of various types of swamp ecosystems.

4.- CAYO LARGO DEL SUR
Cayo Largo del Sur was once a secluded corner of Cuba. Endowed with a particular color, its beaches and hiding places meant a worthy space for tourism and environmental protection.

5.- ESCAMBRAY
Guamuhaya Massif. Escambray. A truly wonderful place, with a particular climate in the midst of the always latent heat of Cuba.
The mountains of Guamuhaya, also known as Escambray, are located towards the south of the central region of Cuba and show a vigorous relief, only surpassed by that of the Sierra Maestra.
Some of its peaks exceed a thousand meters in altitude, extended for about 80 kilometers in length, and divided into two massifs by the Agabama river: the western one is made up of the Sierra de Trinidad, and the eastern portion forms the Sierra de Sancti Spíritus.
6.- TRINIDAD
It is a truly interesting place for those who want to know places linked to Cuban culture. It is Trinidad de Cuba, the city that best preserves the colonial architecture on the island.
The old part of the town impresses with its river stones, distributed among the streets, capable of recreating the look with age and allowing the imagination to travel back in time, as in a trip to the past.
7.- JARDINES DEL REY (GARDENS OF THE KING)
Cuban nature has wonderful places, protected and ready for the demanding traveler. Celebration for the senses.
A paradisiacal site of the Cuban geography like Cayo Coco continues in the main demand of tourists from all over the world, as stressed today by the tourism professionals who serve this Island as a destination.
The Cayo has 370 square kilometers, lonely beaches, and the memory of how that territory could have been in its origins.
8.- JARDINES DE LA REINA (GARDENS OF THE QUEEN)
One of the ideal places in the southern region of eastern Cuba, particularly in the provinces of Ciego de Ávila and Camagüey, with excellent marine settings.
It is the Jardines de la Reina National Park, the largest on the island in terms of sea area, with 2,170 square kilometers. It is made up of the archipelago of the same name and the waters that surround it.

9.- PICO TURQUINO

10. BARACOA

Si bien es cierto que hacer una lista con el Top 10 de los paisajes cubanos es verdaderamente difícil por la variedad y cantidad de escenarios hermosos, también lo es que cada cual tiene su predilección. De ahí que este periodista preparó su propuesta considerando colorido, protección medioambiental y potencialidades.
Es bueno considerar que aparecen en el paisaje de este archipiélago 14 Parques Nacionales, seis Reservas de la Biosfera, seis Sitios Ramsar, dos Sitios Patrimonio Mundial Natural, y 28 Áreas Importantes para la Conservación de las Aves (IBAs).
Por tanto, la lista la ordenaremos desde el punto de vista geográfico, de oeste a este y no en cuanto a la preponderancia como paisaje.
1. PINAR DEL RÍO
Pinar del Río es una región mágica. Ideal para paseos vinculados con la naturaleza, se trata de un área donde el verde resalta por encima de cualquier otro color.
Para los cubanos, además de la provincia más occidental de la Isla, simboliza la patria del mejor tabaco del mundo, allí se cosechan las hojas para la capa de los puros, donde se trata con pasión por parte de los agricultores una verdadera joya natural.
Pinar del Río es eso y mucho más, tal y como lo reflejan viajeros llegados de todas partes del mundo y además posee algunos encantos que es bueno ejemplificar, en particular tres escenarios que marcan mapa muy especial, ideado a partir de los gustos de muchos turistas aventureros.
2. MÁGICA HABANA
Fundada definitivamente en 1519 a la sombra de un frondoso árbol, una ceiba, La Habana devino ciudad muy cosmopolita cargada de viajeros de todas partes del mundo deseosos por conocerla en profundidad.
Un ambiente delicioso, al mejor estilo de la Torre de Babel, en sus calles pasea gente llegada desde los cinco continentes, hablando cada cual su idioma, pero compenetrándose con los capitalinos de la única manera posible: mediante la cordialidad.
3.- LA CIÉNAGA DE ZAPATA
Uno de los viajes más sorprendes a Cuba está relacionado con la Ciénaga de Zapata, importante humedal, con un gran registro de flora y fauna, verdadera fiesta para un viajero que busca aventura.
Se trata de uno de los lugares más interesantes del país, en la región sur-occidental de la ínsula, con un panorama excepcional de varios tipos de ecosistemas de pantano.
Sitio de llanuras bajas, pantanosas y semipantanosas, localizadas sobre depósitos de turba y roca caliza, con suelos hidromórficos y vegetación de sabana natural.
4.- CAYO LARGO DEL SUR
Cayo Largo del Sur fue en su momento un rincón apartado de Cuba. Dotado de un colorido particular, sus playas y escondrijos significaban un espacio digno para el turismo y la protección ambiental.
Como paraíso terrenal, la recreación marinera destapó la moda de visitar este Cayo, y constituir un privilegio particular que con el tiempo transformó ese destino en plaza ideal para viajeros en busca de silencio, intimidad y bellezas naturales.
Ubicado en la porción sur-occidental cubana, tiene historia, magia y un futuro por delante que quieren depararle las autoridades turísticas, sobre todo de parte de elementos como la fotografía sumergida, los paseos, y las vacaciones más activas posibles.
5.- ESCAMBRAY
Macizo de Guamuhaya. Escambray. Un sitio verdaderamente maravilloso, con un clima particular en medio del calor siempre latente de Cuba.
Las montañas de Guamuhaya, también denominadas Escambray, están localizadas hacia el sur de la región central de Cuba y muestran un vigoroso relieve, sólo superado por el de la Sierra Maestra.
Algunas de sus cumbres sobrepasan los mil metros de altitud, extendidas en cerca de 80 kilómetros de largo y divididas en dos macizos por el río Agabama: el occidental está constituido por la Sierra de Trinidad, y la porción oriental forma la Sierra de Sancti Spíritus.
6.- TRINIDAD
Es un lugar verdaderamente interesante para quienes quieren conocer sitios vinculados a la cultura cubana. Se trata de Trinidad de Cuba, la ciudad que mejor conserva la arquitectura colonial en la Isla.
La parte vieja de la villa impresiona por sus piedras de río, repartidas entre las calles, capaces de recrear la mirada con añejamientos y permitir a la imaginación trasladarse en el tiempo, como en un viaje al pasado.
7.- JARDINES DEL REY
La naturaleza cubana tiene lugares maravillosos, protegidos y dispuestos para el viajero exigente. Festejo para los sentidos.
Un sitio paradisíaco de la geografía cubana como Cayo Coco continúa en el reclamo principal de turistas de todo el mundo, tal y como hoy lo recalcan los profesionales del turismo que atienden esta Isla como destino.
El Cayo tiene 370 kilómetros cuadrados, playas solitarias y la memoria de cómo pudo ser ese territorio en sus orígenes.
8.- JARDINES DE LA REINA
Uno de los lugares ideales en la región sur del oriente cubano, en particular en las provincias de Ciego de Ávila y Camagüey, con escenarios marinos excelentes.
Se trata del Parque Nacional Jardines de la Reina, el mayor de la ínsula en cuanto a extensión de mar, con dos mil 170 kilómetros cuadrados. Está integrado por el archipiélago del mismo nombre y las aguas que lo rodean.
Por tanto, el Archipiélago Jardines de la Reina constituye uno de los cuatro que existen en Cuba, tercero en extensión y el más natural. De frente abarca alrededor de 150 kilómetros y fue nombrado Jardines de la Reina por el explorador genovés Cristóbal Colón en honor a la reina de España.
9.- PICO TURQUINO
La región oriental cubana tiene muchos encantos. Desde el punto de vista urbano, se encuentra la ciudad de Santiago de Cuba, que en su momento fue capital de la Isla; pero el mayor atractivo está en su paisaje natural.
Precisamente por esa zona se encuentra la elevación mayor del país con un derredor de mucho atractivo virginal, historia y rincones muy interesantes de conocer durante unas vacaciones.
El Pico Turquino es el punto más alto de Cuba con mil 974 metros sobre el nivel de mar. Ubicado en el centro de la Sierra Maestra, la mayor cordillera de la nación.
10. BARACOA
Con festejos por los 500 años de la ciudad oriental cubana de Baracoa, perteneciente a la provincia de Guantánamo, Baracoa, se asienta junto al mar y destaca por sus bellezas naturales.
Conocida como la Ciudad Primada de Cuba, Baracoa es toda magia de colores y aventuras, la primera villa de esa Isla, reconocida como un sitio imprescindible a visitar, una fiesta de colores.
Nuestra Señora de la Asunción de Baracoa es su nombre, con construcciones urbanas abarcadoras de un pequeño espacio rodeado de mucha costa abrupta, follaje, montañas y ríos.
