Camila Cabello: “The Cuban people live oppressed by the dictatorship.” Cubans “don’t have the right to protest, they don’t have food, they don’t have electricity. What is happening in Cuba is a humanitarian crisis,” she said.
“The people are under a communist regime, a dictatorship and the people have been repressed and under government oppression for more than 60 years,” she said this Tuesday in an interview for Univisión’s Primer Impacto program.
The young actress was born in Cojímar, Havana, 24 years ago, on several occasions has expressed her support for the Cuban people and her clear disagreement against the island’s regime.

She was one of the first Cuban celebrities to come out supporting the 11J protesters and condemning the repression against them.
“Our brave people took to the streets to protest this humanitarian crisis and the people of Cuba urgently need our help. Spread this message by posting #SOSCUBA on your feed to help raise awareness and support for my people,” he wrote the same day of the demonstrations on his Instagram account, with more than 55 million followers.
Likewise in the 2021 Premios Juventud, she was among the Cubans who asked for freedom for the island and carried the message of SOSCuba very high. On that occasion, she said that she felt more proud than ever to be Cuban and “of the young Cubans, who have taken to the streets and who are leading a change, despite the repression and despite the fear.”
She also took advantage of the presentation on the popular Jimmy Fallon show of her latest hit, Don’t Go Yet, to send a message to the Cuban people. “This is for my people from Cuba. Homeland and Life” said the artist before beginning to sing.
The singer in the Univisión program also addressed the issue of migration, as a result of her visit to a migrant center, located in the border city of Tijuana, Mexico, in southern California.
“It is important to me because I also migrated with my parents at the age of seven to the United States from Mexico and Cuba. I was able to identify a lot with the stories of the families and with the children who were there, ”she explained about her stay on the Mexican border.
The Cuban artist explained that she was able to “walk through that experience, thinking that the police and migration have to change to treat all humans and all migrants with dignity.”
The interpreter from Havana has just made her debut as an actress in a new version of the classic Cinderella, which also makes her the first Latina to play that character.
In the interview, she addressed her role as Cinderella in a new musical adaptation, which she -assured- has nothing to do with the previous versions of the classic written by Perrault and popularized by Disney.
“She is like a rebellious Cinderella, that she is not waiting for a prince to save her because she is going to save herself. She has ambitions, dreams, and a life that she wants to fight for. It is a more inspiring message for the girls of these times ”, she opined about her leading role in the first film she acts and which will premiere on Amazon Prime in early September.

Camila Cabello: “El pueblo cubano vive oprimido por la dictadura”. Los cubanos “no tienen derecho a protestar, no tienen comida, no tienen electricidad. Es una crisis humanitaria lo que está pasando en Cuba”.
“La gente está bajo un régimen comunista, una dictadura y el pueblo ha estado reprimido y bajo la opresión del gobierno por más de 60 años”, dijo este martes en una entrevista para el programa Primer Impacto de Univisión.
La joven actriz nacida en Cojímar, La Habana, hace 24 años, y en varias ocasiones ha expresado su apoyo al pueblo cubano y su claro desacuerdo contra el régimen de la Isla.
Fue una de las primeras celebridades cubanas en salir apoyar a los manifestantes del 11J y condenar la represión contra ellos.

“Nuestro valiente pueblo tomó las calles para protestar por esta crisis humanitaria y el pueblo de Cuba necesita nuestra ayuda con urgencia. Difundan este mensaje publicando #SOSCUBA en su feed para ayudar a generar conciencia y apoyo a mi gente”, escribió el mismo día de las manifestaciones en su cuenta de Instagram, con más de 55 millones de seguidores.
Igual en los Premios Juventud 2021, estuvo entre los cubanos que pidieron libertad para la isla y llevaron bien alto el mensaje de SOSCuba. En esa ocasión dijo que se sentía más orgullosa que nunca de ser cubana y “de los jóvenes cubanos, que han salido a las calles y que están liderando un cambio, a pesar de la represión y a pesar del miedo”.
También aprovechó la presentación en el popular show de Jimmy Fallon de su más reciente éxito Don’t Go Yet, para mandarle un mensaje al pueblo cubano. “Esto es para mi gente de Cuba. Patria y Vida”, dijo la artista antes de comenzar a cantar.
La cantante en el programa de Univisión igual abordó el tema de la migración, a raíz de su visita a un centro de migrantes, ubicado en la ciudad fronteriza de Tijuana, México, al sur de California.
“Es importante para mí porque yo también migré con mis padres a los siete años a los Estados Unidos de México y de Cuba. Yo me pude identificar mucho con las historias de las familias y con los niños que estaban ahí”, expuso sobre su estancia en la frontera mexicana.
La artista cubana expuso que pudo “caminar esa experiencia, pensando que la policía y migración tienen que cambiar para tratar a todos los humanos a todos los emigrantes con dignidad”.
La intérprete de Havana acaba de estrenarse como actriz en una nueva versión del clásico Cenicienta, que la convierte, además, en la primera latina en interpretar ese personaje.
En la entrevista abordó su rol como Cenicienta en una nueva adaptación musical, que –aseguró- nada tiene que ver con las anteriores versiones del clásico escrito por Perrault y popularizado por Disney.
“Es como una Cenicienta rebelde, que no está esperando que un príncipe la salve, porque ella se va a salvar a sí misma. Tiene ambiciones, sueños y una vida por la que quiere luchar. Es un mensaje más inspirador para las niñas de estos tiempos”, opinó sobre su protagónico en la primera película que actúa y que se estrenará por Amazon Prime a principios de septiembre.
