23 AIRLINES WILL TRAVEL TO CUBA IN OCTOBER INCLUDING AMERICAN, JETBLUE, AND SOUTHWEST
A score of airlines plans to travel to Cuba in October. American Airlines, JetBlue, and Southwest will fly from Florida, in addition to charters.
Cuban authorities foresee that 23 airlines will land at their different airports during the month of October, from Europe, North America, the Caribbean, and Latin America.
The figure represents a significant increase in airport activity compared to flights in August.
According to the list of scheduled flights, which the Cuban Airport and Airport Services Company (ECASA) published this Monday, among the airlines expected to land on the island are American Airlines, Iberia, Air France, Copa Airlines, Viva Aerobús, and Turkish Airlines.
FROM FLORIDA THEY WILL TRAVEL TO CUBA
American Airlines will fly from Florida, departing from Miami airport and with an authorized weekly frequency until November 2, while JetBlue will operate from the Fort Lauderdale air terminal on Fridays, and Southwest will operate from Tampa on Saturdays. Some charter flights will also arrive from the United States.
Bahamas Air will come from the Caribbean and Latin America, from Nassau; InterCaribbean, from Kingston (Jamaica); Air Century, from Santo Domingo; Wingo AeroRep República, will leave Bogotá; Copa Airlines, from Panama City; and Viva Aerobús, from Mexico.
With departure in Toronto and Montreal, Air Canada will fly, and from the same cities Air Transat.
The Russian airline Royal Flight will depart from Moscow on Wednesdays, Sundays, and Fridays; Aeroflot will also fly from Russia on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, as will AZUR Air and Nordwind.
Iberia, Air Europa, Evelop and World2Fly will operate from Madrid, which announced a promotion of 250 euros each way. Likewise, the airlines Air France (Paris), Neos (Milan), Turkish Airlines (Istanbul), and the Angolan TAAG (Luanda) will also come to Cuba.
As announced by the Cuban Ministry of Tourism, the island is preparing to gradually open its borders as of November 15. It is expected that by that date more than 90 percent of its 11.2 million inhabitants will have completed their vaccination against COVID-19.
CRITICS OF CIVIL SOCIETY IN CUBA
The announcement of the opening not only generated criticism from independent civil society but also from the Cuban population, who see in this the desperation of the authorities to deposit money in the accounts controlled by the State, putting the health of Cubans at risk.
The MINTUR also reported that hygienic-sanitary protocols will be made more flexible upon the arrival of travelers, which will be focused on monitoring symptomatic patients and taking temperature.
In addition, diagnostic tests will be carried out randomly, PCR will not be required upon arrival and the travelers’ vaccination certificate will be recognized.
However, the authorities specified that every traveler must bring proof, in printed format, of a negative result of PCR-RT to COVID-19, from a certified laboratory in the country of origin
Only children under two years of age are exempt from this measure, and they are not tested against COVID-19 upon arrival in Cuba.

Una veintena de aerolíneas prevén viajar a Cuba en octubre. Desde Florida volarán American Airlines, JetBlue y Southwest, además de los charters.
Autoridades cubanas prevén que 23 aerolíneas aterricen en sus diferentes aeropuertos durante el próximo mes de octubre, procedentes Europa, América del Norte, el Caribe y Latinoamérica.
La cifra representa un aumento importante de la actividad aeroportuaria en comparación con los vuelos de agosto.
Según el listado de vuelos programados, que la Empresa Cubana de Aeropuertos y Servicios Aeroportuarios (ECASA) publicó este lunes, entre las líneas aéreas que se espera desembarquen en la isla están American Airlines, Iberia, Air France, Copa Airlines, Viva Aerobús y Turkish Airlines.
DESDE FLORIDA VIAJARAN A CUBA
Desde Florida volará American Airlines, con salida del aeropuerto de Miami y con una frecuencia semanal autorizada hasta el 2 de noviembre, mientras JetBlue operará desde el terminal aérea de Fort Lauderdale los viernes, y Southwest lo hará desde Tampa, los sábados. También arribarán algunos vuelos charter desde Estados Unidos.
Del Caribe y Latinoamérica vendrán Bahamas Air, desde Nassau; InterCaribbean, desde Kingston (Jamaica); Air Century, desde Santo Domingo; Wingo AeroRepública, saldrá de Bogotá; Copa Airlines, desde la Ciudad de Panamá; y Viva Aerobús, desde México.

La aerolínea rusa Royal Flight partirá desde Moscú los miércoles, domingos y viernes; desde Rusia también volarán Aeroflot los miércoles, sábados y domingos, al igual que AZUR Air y Nordwind.
Procedentes de Madrid operarán Iberia, Air Europa, Evelop y World2Fly, que anunció una promoció de 250 euros por trayecto. Asimismo, también vendrán a Cuba las aerolíneas Air France (París), Neos (Milán), Turkish Airlines (Estambul) y la angolana TAAG (Luanda).
Según lo anunciado por el Ministerio de Turismo cubano, la isla se prepara para abrir sus fronteras de forma gradual a partir del próximo 15 de noviembre. Se espera que para esa fecha más del 90 ciento de sus 11,2 millones de habitantes habrá completado la vacunación contra la COVID-19.
CRITICAS DE LA SOCIEDAD CIVIL EN CUBA
El anuncio de la apertura no solo generó críticas por parte de la sociedad civil independiente sino de parte de la población cubana que ve en ello desespero de las autoridades por ingresar dinero en las cuentas que controla el Estado, poniendo en riesgo la salud de los cubanos.
El MINTUR también informó que se flexibilizarán los protocolos higiénico-sanitarios a la llegada de los viajeros, los cuales estarán centrados en la vigilancia de pacientes sintomáticos y la toma de temperatura.
Además, se realizarán pruebas diagnósticas de manera aleatoria, no se exigirá el PCR al arribo y se reconocerá el certificado de vacunación de los viajeros.
Sin embargo, las autoridades precisaron que todo viajero debe traer constancia, en formato impreso, de un resultado negativo de PCR-RT a COVID-19, de un laboratorio certificado en el país de origen
Solo están exentos de esta medida los niños menores de dos años de edad, a los cuales tampoco se le realiza una prueba anti COVID-19 al arribo a Cuba.
