El lanzador Yeinel Zayas toma el lugar numero siete de los peloteros cubanos que se fugan en Mexico. El pinero abandonó el equipo en la mañana de este martes’.
EL LANZADOR Yeinel Zayas se convirtió en el séptimo pelotero que abandona el equipo Cuba durante el Campeonato Mundial sub-23 de béisbol, que se desarrolla en Ciudad Obregón, en el estado mexicano de Sonora. Fuentes cercanas a la selección confirmaron al portal Pelota Cubana que el zurdo se fugó en la mañana de este martes.
Zayas, natural de Isla de la Juventud, fue relevo en el debut de Cuba frente a la novena de México y retiró por la vía de los strikes a dos de los tres rivales que enfrentó, reseñó Pelota Cubana.
El periodista Francys Romero escribió en su cuenta de Twitter que el lanzador abandonó el hotel donde se hospeda el equipo “alrededor de las 7:45 am hora de México”. “El bus de Cuba se encuentra a punto de partir hacia el Estadio Yaquis y Zayas no está entre los jugadores. La nómina de Cuba se reduce a 17”, agregó Romero.
Antes de Zayas, abandonaron el equipo los también lanzadores Luis Dennys Morales, Uber Mejías, Dariel Fernández, el receptor Loidel Rodríguez, el jardinero Reinaldo Lazaga y Diasmany Palacios, jugador de cuadro.

Lazaga, Fernández y Palacios se fugaron el mismo día y con ellos “se rompió el récord de más abandonos en una delegación de béisbol” cubana, precisó Romero. La más numerosa había sido en el propio México, en 1996, cuando cinco jugadores que participaban en la Copa de Clubes Campeones desertaron.
A las fugas de peloteros, el mánager del equipo Eriel Sánchez les restó importancia. “No hay situación. No hay problema ninguno”, aseguró. “Hay un equipo bien, un grupo de dirección y una delegación completa que vamos a estar en posición de los resultados”, señaló en declaraciones a la televisión cubana el pasado 26 de septiembre.
Sánchez dijo antes de que viajara la selección cubana de béisbol a México, que para ser un pelotero digno de representar a la Isla a nivel internacional no solo bastaba con jugar bien, sino que había que “ser patriota”.
Sus afirmaciones se daban después de haber sido excluidos de la preselección Yosimar Cousín y Yunior Tur. “Es bueno que la afición conozca que la selección de esos jóvenes no fue mía”, sostuvo Sánchez.
Las autoridades deportivas de la Isla han insistido en responsabilizar a EE UU del abandono de los deportistas. El Instituto Nacional de Deportes Educación Física y Recreación (Inder) acusó el domingo pasado al bloqueo del acuerdo entre la Federación Cubana de Béisbol y la Major League Baseball, de estimular “el tráfico de atletas en defensa de intereses políticos”.
El Inder aseguró en sus redes sociales que las marcha de los peloteros “confirma el cinismo con que la Administración de Trump anuló el acuerdo”, que además consideró una “desventaja cruel que impide el flujo natural a los circuitos de esa organización”.

La racha de fugas de deportistas cubanos en los últimos meses entre las que se incluyen las de las judocas Ayumi Leyva y Nahomys Acosta, que abandonaron el pasado mes la delegación de la Isla durante una escala en Madrid, España, ha dañado la imagen del Inder.
A finales de junio, el deportista Raudelis Guerra también abandonó en España la delegación de baloncesto, camino del torneo clasificatorio para el mundial, que tuvo lugar en El Salvador. Guerra se fugó de la comitiva en el mismo Aeropuerto de Madrid-Barajas, donde parte del equipo nacional hacía escala para continuar rumbo al país centroamericano.
Casi un mes antes, se dieron otros casos de deserciones de atletas y colaboradores que formaron parte de la comitiva cubana en el Preolímpico de Béisbol en Florida. Abandonaron la delegación el segunda base César Prieto, los lanzadores Lázaro Blanco y Andy Rodríguez, y Jorge Sile Figueroa, psicólogo del equipo.
