LA HABANA SE HA PRONUNCIADO, por fin, en torno a la petición de dos aerolíneas estadounidenses para transportar ayuda humanitaria a Cuba. Skyway e IBC habían recibido permiso del Departamento del Tesoro el pasado julio para volar a la capital y otras siete ciudades de la Isla, pero faltaba la respuesta de la parte cubana. Este miércoles, las autoridades aéreas han indicado que el permiso para aterrizar en La Habana ya está en marcha, pero siguen las negociaciones para el resto de destinos.
Según un comunicado, difundido por la prensa oficiales, representantes de la Corporación de la Aviación Cubana (Cacsa) y del Instituto de Aeronáutica Civil de Cuba (IACC) conversaron con la empresa de chárter ‘Invicta’ para “valorar las posibles operaciones de carga con el uso de la aerolínea Skyway hacia aeropuertos fuera de La Habana”, así como con IBC para poner en marcha las operaciones con Cubamax.
La nota afirma que Invicta operaba dos vuelos semanales Miami-La Habana con Skyway desde el 18 de junio, mientras que a IBC se le otorgó el permiso para aterrizar en La Habana el 25 de agosto a través de Cubamax. En relación a esta última, actualmente está contratando los prestadores de los servicios para iniciar los vuelos, según la parte cubana.
Un día después, Cubanet publicó las declaraciones de un ejecutivo de IBC Airways, Rey González, que lamentaba no haber obtenido hasta ese momento permiso del Gobierno de La Habana. “No estamos volando a Cuba porque no tenemos esos permisos. Una vez tengamos esos documentos para aterrizar en el país entonces podemos trabajar con las agencias locales para enviar la ayuda humanitaria. Pero hasta ahora no tenemos eso”, dijo, en unas declaraciones que pudieron haberse solapado con la comunicación de la autorización cubana.
La nota del IACC recuerda que formalizar este tipo de excepciones es obligatorio desde que en agosto de 2020 el Gobierno estadounidense suspendió los vuelos chárter privados a todas las provincias cubanas. Meses antes, en octubre, ya había hecho lo mismo con los públicos como parte de un paquete de sanciones al Gobierno de la Isla. “El régimen de Castro usa los ingresos del turismo y los viajes para financiar sus abusos e interferencia en Venezuela”, escribió entonces en su cuenta de Twitter, al anunciar la decisión, el secretario de Estado, Mike Pompeo.
Las negociaciones se producen, según las autoridades “en respuesta a las solicitudes formalizadas por estas empresas de chárter y las respectivas aerolíneas con motivo de que el Gobierno de EE UU autorizó en el mes de julio excepciones de emergencia a favor de las aerolíneas Skyway e IBC, para permitirles operar vuelos de carga semanales a Cuba, incluyendo un vuelo semanal adicional a cualquier otro aeropuerto del territorio nacional para Skyway, y hasta cinco vuelos semanales a cualquier aeropuerto de Cuba para IBC”.
