Iberostar, one of the best-positioned foreign companies in the Cuban tourism sector, has received visitors since the beginning of the year in its four and five-star hotels in Havana -the Central Park- and in three luxury resorts based in the resort of Varadero, the main destination for sun and beaches on the Island.

LAS CADENAS ESPANOLAS “Meliá” e “Iberostar” anunciaron que sus hoteles en Cuba volverán a operar con la reapertura del turismo, prevista para el próximo noviembre a pesar de que la pandemia de covid-19 mantienen un alto nivel en la Isla.
Meliá dijo este viernes que 18 de los 32 hoteles que gestiona en la Isla abrirán el 15 de noviembre e Iberostar declaró que está “lista” para reabrir entre el 1 de noviembre próximo y enero de 2022 las puertas de una docena de los hoteles bajo su gestión en la Isla.
Los hoteles Meliá Habana, Tryp Habana Libre (en la capital cubana) y otros ubicados en el balneario de Varadero (Matanzas), las provincias Cienfuegos, Holguín y los cayos abrirán sus puertas tras meses cerrados al público por las restricciones de la pandemia, informó la compañía en Twitter.

Iberostar, una de las compañías extranjeras mejor posicionadas en el sector turístico cubano, ha recibido visitantes desde inicios de año en sus hoteles de cuatro y cinco estrellas en La Habana -el Parque Central- y en tres resorts de lujo con sede en el balneario de Varadero, el principal destino de sol y playas de la Isla.
Ahora anuncia las reaperturas del hotel Grand Packard -en la capital cubana-, dos en Varadero, uno en Cayo Ensenacho y otro en Cayo Guillermo -ubicados en los islotes de la costa noroeste del país caribeño- y el resto en la ciudad colonial Trinidad (centro) y la oriental Holguín.

La Isla suspendió los vuelos comerciales y chárter en abril de 2020 para frenar la expansión del coronavirus y en octubre de ese año reabrió los aeropuertos, pero con una reducción mínima de vuelos procedentes de Estados Unidos, México, Panamá, Bahamas, Haití, República Dominicana y Colombia.
Antes de la pandemia, el turismo representaba para Cuba la tercera fuente oficial de ingreso de divisas, por detrás de la venta de servicios médicos internacionales y las remesas, y aportaba en torno al 10% del producto interno bruto (PIB).
