Luisa Maria Güell es una cantante, compositora y actriz de origen cubano, nacionalizada espanola, con una larga lista de logros y reconocimientos en su haber.
Luisa María Güell nació en la Habana, Cuba un 20 de Diciembre de 1944. Desde muy temprana edad Luisa María Güell estudió piano, ballet, baile español y arte dramático. Estudió en la Academia de Arte Dramático, Escuela de Arte Cubanacán, y locución, en el Instituto Abraham Lincoln, y en el Instituto de la Alianza Francesa; baile español. Comenzó en el mundo del espectáculo a los 5 años.
CARRERA ARTISTICA
En 1964 se convirtió en una estrella juvenil idolatrada por todos; actuó en cine y teatro y grabó sus primeros discos. Como cantante hizo popular en Cuba ‘No tengo edad para amarte’, gracias a su carisma y al timbre de su voz. Además “En tu motoneta”.
Como actriz, hizo en Cuba “Papaito piernas largas” (Armando Bianchi como Papaito); “Cumbres Borrascosas”; “El Zoo de Cristal”; “La posada Jamaica” (como protagonista de esta telenovela). En teatro trabajó en: “El Remero Respetuoso” con Jorge País, de Arturo Liendo; “Tierra Baja”; “El Bello Antonio”, con Roberto Cazorla; “La bella y el gorila” (de Rine Leal); en cine protagonizó “El Huésped” de Eduardo Manet, junto a Enrique Almirante y Raquel Revuelta.

Dejó su país natal en 1968 rumbo a España, después de ser castigada por el gobierno Castrista cuando ella decidió salir del país, separada de su profesión y enviada a hacer trabajos forzados en la agricultura.
Recién llegada a su exilio en España, conoció al compositor Manuel Alejandro quien entre doscientas cantantes la escogió para que interpretara su canción “Ya no me vuelvo a enamorar” en el “Festival Internacional de la Canción de Málaga”, donde representó a España ganándole a Inglaterra y Francia y convirtiéndose el tema en No.1 en toda Latinoamérica.
En 1972, representando a España, obtuvo el Premio Voz y Canción con el tema de Herreros y Armenteros Yo me enamoro de ti, en Puerto Rico.
En 1979 consiguió en París, representando a España, el Premio de Interpretación y se le concedió la Medalla de Oro Edith Piaf como autora y compositora, siendo la primera artista no-francesa en recibirlo. También musicalizó e interpretó la obra La edad de oro de José Martí, trabajo por el que se le otorgó el Premio ‘In the company of women’ y el de la SACEM (Sociedad de Compositores y Autores de Música) y el Premio de Interpretación en el Festival “Grand Prix de París International de la Chanson”.
Radica en Miami a partir de 1984, donde ha realizado múltiples conciertos en el “Dade County Auditorium”, presentándose con sus músicos y también con la “Orquesta de Cámara de la Florida, en el “Town Hall” en New York. “Un Homenaje a Edith Piaf” de María Julia Casanova y “Piaf” de Pancho Pizzi, fueron dos obras que interpretara en varios teatros en USA. Ha recibido las llaves de la ciudad, proclamas y celebración por sus actuaciones en múltiples ocasiones.

Ha editado más de 23 discos y sencillos ganando “Discos de Oro” de los cuales han sido No.1 en toda Latinoamérica. Fue nominada al “Latin Grammy 2007” por su álbum “Luisa Maria Güell UNA”.
Entre sus muchos elogios se encuentra una nominación al Grammy Latino 2007 en la categoría de Mejor Álbum de Tango por Ano, uno de más de dos docenas de álbumes lanzados a lo largo de su carrera.

Luisa Maria Güell is a singer, songwriter, and actress of Cuban origin, nationalized Spanish, with a long list of achievements and recognitions to her credit.
Luisa María Güell was born in Havana, Cuba on December 20, 1944. From an early age she Luisa María Güell studied piano, ballet, Spanish dance, and dramatic art. She studied at the Academy of Dramatic Art, Escuela de Arte Cubanacán, and voice-over, at the Abraham Lincoln Institute, and at the Institute of the French Alliance; Spanish dance. She started in the show business at 5 years old.
ARTISTIC CAREER
In 1964 she became a youth star idolized by all; she acted in film and theater and recorded her first albums. As a singer, she made “I have no age to love you” popular in Cuba, thanks to her charisma and the timbre of her voice. Also “On your scooter.”
As an actress, she did “Papaito Long Legs” in Cuba (Armando Bianchi as Papaito); “Wuthering Heights”; “The Crystal Zoo”; “La posada Jamaica” (as the protagonist of this soap opera). In theater she worked in: “El Remero Respetuoso” with Jorge País, by Arturo Liendo; “Tierra Baja”; “El Bello Antonio”, with Roberto Cazorla; “La bella y el gorila” (by Rine Leal); in film she starred in “El Huissante” by Eduardo Manet, along with Enrique Almirante and Raquel Revuelta.

She left her native country in 1968 for Spain, after being punished by the Castro government when she decided to leave the country, separated from her profession, and sent to do forced labor in agriculture.
Having just arrived in exile in Spain, she met the composer Manuel Alejandro who, among two hundred singers, chose her to perform his song “No longer I fall in love again” at the “International Song Festival of Malaga”, where he represented Spain beating England and France and becoming the theme No.1 in all of Latin America.
In 1972, representing Spain, she won the Voice and Song Award with the theme of Herreros y Armenteros Yo me enamoro de ti, in Puerto Rico.
In 1979 she won the Interpretation Prize in Paris, representing Spain, and was awarded the Edith Piaf Gold Medal as author and composer, being the first non-French artist to receive it. He also musicalized and performed the work The Golden Age by José Martí, work for which he was awarded the ‘In the company of women’ Award and the SACEM (Society of Composers and Authors of Music) and the Interpretation Award in the Festival “Grand Prix de Paris International de la Chanson”.
