La fuga de otro pelotero cubano apaga el festejo del Día de la Cultura Física y el Deporte. Luis Jesús Quesada ya se encuentra en República Dominicana, y con su salida suman cuatro los prospectos que han dejado la Isla en un mes.
El deporte nacional cubano está en crisis. Este viernes salió de la Isla el prospecto Luis Jesús Quesada y ya se encuentra en República Dominicana. El atleta originario de Cienfuegos se sumó a Cristián de Jesús López, Darlin Jiménez y Gustavo Urgellés, quienes emigraron en los últimos 30 días en busca de alguna oportunidad en las Ligas Mayores de Béisbol de Estados Unidos (MLB).
Quesada “se marchó por la vía legal del país”, según dio a conocer el periodista Francys Romero. A sus 16 años, precisó, “es uno de los mejores talentos de su clase y, según mis clasificaciones, el número uno en bate de contacto y disciplina en home de su categoría”. En el último Campeonato Nacional con Cienfuegos su promedio fue de .416 (37 hits en 89 turnos), 11 dobles y tres jonrones.
La sangría de peloteros sigue, mientras Granma destaca en una publicación “la esencia de una potencia deportiva mundial” en el Día de la Cultura Física y el Deporte. Y reconoce el papel de la educación física como “la base del deporte” cubano.

“No sé bien de otros deportes, pero los jóvenes peloteros no tienen oportunidad de crecimiento en la Isla, no tienen libertad de elegir, por eso se fugan”, señaló el agente de jugadores afincado en Miami, Carlos Pérez. “Los muchachos no tendrían que estar saltando balcones ni buscando asilo”. Mientras, Romero advirtió que “con la reciente apertura de los aeropuertos en Cuba, la emigración de beisbolistas comenzará a reactivar sus patrones normales”.
Las deserciones se han extendido a otras disciplinas, como la de las judocas Ayumi Leyva y Nahomys Acosta y el baloncestista Raudelis Guerra, que abandonaron las comitivas de la Isla durante escalas en Madrid, España, lo que afectó la imagen del Inder.
Este viernes también se dio a conocer que uno más de los juveniles que abandonó al equipo patriótico en México, Miguel Antonio González ya se encuentra en EE UU y será representado por David Hastings. El siguiente objetivo será la obtención de agente libre, aunque ya varios equipos han mostrado interés por sumarlo a su novena.
En la última temporada mantuvo una línea ofensiva de .318/.417/.439, 7 dobles y dos cuadrangulares, más 14 impulsadas. En el Mundial sub 23 registró “cinco encuentros, con .385/.556/.385, 5 hits en 13 turnos y 3 RBI”, resaltó el portal FR.
