UN RECORDADO PERSONAJE DE CUBA: “CLAVELITO”, TROVADOR, POETA Y CANTOR. PHOTOS
Miguel Alfonso Pozo, conocido popularmente como “Clavelito” nació en Ranchuelo, un 29 de septiembre de 1908 y fue un trovador, poeta y cantor cubano, que destaca en la primera mitad del siglo XX al dedicarse principalmente al repentismo, las décimas campesinas, logrando clebridad por el programa Pon tu pensamiento en mí, transmitido por Unión Radio Televisión.
CARRERA ARTISTICA…
Los inicios en el arte es mediante el duo Moriano y Clavelito, radiado por la emisora CMHI de Santa Clara. Años más tarde Amado Trinidad Velazco, director de la emisora RHC Cadena Azul, le da la oportunidad de redactar las famosas décimas de Pepe Cortes, el bandolero romántico.
La estancia en Cadena Azul es breve, el 27 de abril de 1939 es contratado por el entonces director del Circuito CMQ, Miguel Gabriel y a dúo con La Calandria pasa al gran circuito radial, donde actúa por espacio de trece años.
Entre los programas relizados en esa etapa se citan, Controversias Colgate, Rincón criollo, Controversias Toddy, Por los campos de Cuba y El horóscopo de Clavelito.
En una ocasión, Goar Mestre ―propietario de CMQ en ese momento― se enteró de que en las cartas que recibía Clavelito le enviaban dinero, por lo que le anuló el contrato.
Al fundar Gaspar Pumarejo la Unión Radio Televisión en mayo de 1951, Clavelito pasa a laborar en esa onda radial, donde inicia el programa Controversias de la pelota, entre Habana y Almendares, junto a Coralia Fernández.
PON TU PENSAMIENTO EN MI…
Al pasar en 1951 Unión Radio Televisión a manos de Ángel Cambó, este le dio las facultades a Clavelito para aparte de actuar producir el tipo de programa que él quisiera, así surge el programa del vaso de agua de Clavelito, uno de los más escuchado de la radio cubana en esa época. Nombrado Pon tu pensamiento en mí, la audiencia era amplía, tanto en la ciudad como en el campo, pero era entre los crédulos campesinos donde tenía más cantidad de adeptos.
A los oyentes les pedía que colocaran un vaso de agua sobre el receptor radial, porque Clavelito creía que el receptor emitía ondas hertzianas (cuando en realidad el receptor de radio solo detecta las ondas de radio que nos rodean por completo desde principios del siglo XX, en cualquier lugar del planeta). Él afirmaba que las ondas magnetizaban de fuerza el agua, que al beberla solucionaban todos los problemas.
Con creyentes y no creyentes, muchos oyentes escribían cartas, pidiendo salud para un enfermo en la familia, para obtener trabajo, para conseguir pareja, para ganarse la lotería o para quitarse de arriba un bilongo.
Una vez ejecutado el ritual de colocar la mano sobre la radio, Clavelito cantaba:
Pon tu pensamiento en mí,
verás que en este momento
mi «fuerza de pensamiento»
ejercerá el bien sobre ti.
Seguidamente seguía con unas décimas que exponían el reclamo del oyente y la solución deseada.
SUSPENSION DEL PROGRAMA…
El programa era todo un éxito hasta que Unión Radio decidió crear paréntesis a lo largo de toda la programación para, más allá del espacio de Clavelito, dar respuesta a los que habían pedido consejo al cantante, lo que obligaba a los interesados a mantenerse atados a esa emisora durante todo el día.
Ante esta situación la Comisión de Ética Radial, la Asociación de Anunciantes de Cuba y el Bloque Cubano de Prensa arremeten contra el programa y logran que sea suspendido el 5 de agosto de 1952, volviendo el poeta a los versos bucólicos, pero ya nada fue igual.
Continúa laborando en Unión Radio Televisión, donde tiene participación en los programas: El horóscopo del alma, Aquí está Clavelito, El buzón de Clavelito y Fiesta en el campo.
OTRAS LABORES…
Aparte de la labor en la radio, una vez asentado en la capital cubana, estudió Naturopatía y Medicina natural. También se desempeñó como fabricante de perfumes en la conocida Perfumera Mapclave, así como en una quincalla que tuvo situada en la calle San Francisco 156, en La Habana. Escribió cinco libros: tres de «psiquiatría espiritual» y dos de versos, luego editó una Enciclopedia de la felicidad y entre las obras de caridad figuraba la de adquirir aparatos para discapacitados.
La labor autoral también se le conocen varias canciones, entre las que se citan, La Guayabera, El caballo y la montura, El rinconcito y Chupando caña.
La popularidad fue tal que llegó a pstularse para la Cámara de Representantes por el Partido Aunténtico, no pasando de esa primera fase.
Miguel Alfonso “Clavelito” Pozo falleció en La Habana el 21 de julio de 1975, a la edad de 66 años.

He claimed that the waves forcefully magnetized the water, that by drinking it they solved all problems.
With believers and non-believers, many listeners wrote letters, asking for health for a sick person in the family, to get a job, to find a partner, to win the lottery or to get rid of a bilongo.
Once the ritual of placing the hand on the radio was executed, Clavelito sang:
Put your thoughts on me
you will see that at this moment
my “thought force”
He will work good on you.
Then he continued with a few tenths that exposed the listener’s claim and the desired solution.
SUSPENSION OF THE PROGRAM…
The program was a complete success until Unión Radio decided to create parentheses throughout the entire programming to, beyond Clavelito’s space, respond to those who had asked the singer for advice, forcing those interested to remain tied to that station all day.
Faced with this situation, the Radio Ethics Commission, the Association of Advertisers of Cuba and the Cuban Press Bloc attacked the program and managed to have it suspended on August 5, 1952, returning the poet to bucolic verses, but nothing was the same. .
He continues working at Unión Radio Televisión, where he participates in the programs: El horóscopo del alma, Aquí está Clavelito, El búzón de Clavelito and Fiesta en el campo.
OTHER WORKS…
Apart from working on the radio, once settled in the Cuban capital, he studied Naturopathy and Natural Medicine. He also worked as a perfume manufacturer at the well-known Mapclave Perfumery, as well as at a hardware store that he had located at 156 San Francisco Street, in Havana. He wrote five books: three on “spiritual psychiatry” and two on verses, then he edited an Encyclopedia of Happiness and among his charitable works included purchasing devices for the disabled.
His authorial work is also known for several songs, among which are cited, La Guayabera, El caballo y la montura, El rinconcito and Sucking cane.
His popularity was such that he ran for the House of Representatives for the Authentic Party, not going beyond that first phase.
Miguel Alfonso “Clavelito” Pozo passed away in Havana on July 21, 1975, at the age of 66.
