María Concepción Alonso Bustillo, más conocida como María Conchita Alonso, es una actriz, cantante, compositora, exreina de belleza y filántropa venezolana-estadounidense nacida en Cuba.
A lo largo de su carrera ha participado en múltiples producciones tanto en cine como en televisión, habiendo sido nominada al Independent Spirit Award como Mejor Actriz Protagónica en 1996 por su papel en Caught. Como cantante ha recibido varios discos de oro y platino, y ha sido nominada tres veces a los premios Grammy.
Alonso fue la primera actriz latinoamericana no nacida en Estados Unidos en protagonizar una obra musical en Broadway en ‘El beso de la mujer araña’ en el Teatro Broadhurst en 1995.

CARRERA ARTISTICA…
En 1973, a los 16 años, ganó en Lisboa, Portugal, el premio “Miss Princesa del Mundo”. Representando a Venezuela. Dos años después representó al Distrito Federal en el “Miss Venezuela 1975” realizado en el Poliedro de Caracas el 9 de mayo de 1975. Ella fue la primera corredora. La ganadora fue Maritza Pineda Montoya (Nueva Esparta). María Conchita asistió al concurso “Miss Mundo 1975” celebrado en el Royal Albert Hall de Londres (Inglaterra) el jueves 20 de noviembre de 1975. Clasificada entre las siete finalistas. Fue séptimo. El evento lo ganó Wilnelia Merced Cruz (Puerto Rico).
Al llegar a Venezuela desarrolló una ascendente carrera como actriz de televisión. Participó en varias telenovelas de Radio Caracas Televisión, RCTV, Canal 2 de Venezuela.
Del compositor Rudy La Scala editó en 1980 dos discos bajo el sobrenombre de Amber: Love Maniac y The Witch, con gran éxito, con los que se dio a conocer. De ahí grabó otros éxitos discográficos con temas de renombre como “Tócame”, “La loca”, “Nada más”, “Lluvia de amor” y otros que la catapultaron al estrellato internacional. María Conchita habla cuatro idiomas.
MARIA CONCHITA SE MUDA A LOS ESTADOS UNIDOS..
En 1982 decidió emigrar a Estados Unidos, a Los Ángeles, para realizar su sueño de “conquistar” Hollywood. Su debut lo hizo a continuación protagonizando al famoso actor Robin Williams en la película Moscú en Nueva York. También ha protagonizado películas como A Fine Mess (dirigida por Blake Edwards), Perseguido (con Arnold Schwarzenegger), Depredador 2 (con Danny Glover y Ruben Blades), La casa de los espíritus, El beso del vampiro (con Nicholas Cage y Jennifer Beals), Colors (Sean Penn, dirigida por Dennis Hopper) y el programa de televisión “Soy una celebridad… ¡Sácame de aquí!”. En 1997 participó en una comedia española, El grito.
Como cantante consolidada dio un concierto en “El Junquito” en una cárcel de Caracas, Venezuela el 29 de octubre de 1984. En 1994 regresó al canal que la lanzó a la fama, RCTV, donde protagonizó la telenovela La escritora Alexandra de Delia Fiallo.
Reside en los Estados Unidos, donde se hizo ciudadana y participa en la exitosa serie Desperate Housewives como la madre de Eva Longoria, apareciendo en la adaptación española de la serie como la madre de Scarlet Ortiz.
Protagonizó un escándalo al ser fotografiada sin ropa interior en una playa de Miami, ella solo le dijo a los medios que sigue siendo hermosa, que no le importa la edad. Uno de sus trabajos más recientes ha sido en la película Material Girls.
En 2006 participa como docente en el concurso de canto Cantando por un Sueño, su alumno fue el actor y cantante Luis Roberto Guzmán y su Argelia soñadora.
En 2011 fue invitada a participar como jurado en TV Azteca, cantando el programa Academia, junto al músico Chacho Gaytán y el periodista Arturo López Gavito, donde interpretó el tema “Noche de Copas” con los estudiantes. Ese mismo año participó en “Grandiosas In Concert”, evento que reunió a exitosos cantantes de los años ochenta. Debido al éxito de este concierto , vuelve a presentarse bajo el mismo concepto en marzo de 2012.
PARTICIPACION POLITICA…
El 17 de septiembre de 2014, el presidente de Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, solicitó al ministro del Interior, Miguel Rodríguez Torres, emprender acciones legales para revocar la ciudadanía venezolana de Alonso. El motivo fue su pedido público en una entrevista radial de una intervención militar contra Venezuela: “En mi opinión, (EE.UU.) debe intervenir, porque los cubanos ya invadieron sin disparar una sola bala porque se la dieron (a Venezuela) gratis. Entonces Me gustaría que EE.UU. invadiera a balazos para sacar a todos esos comunistas de Venezuela”.
A mediados de 2016, Alonso declaró que no apoyó ni al candidato presidencial republicano Donald Trump ni a la candidata presidencial demócrata Hillary Clinton en las elecciones de Estados Unidos, considerándolos inaceptables. Terminó apoyando a Gary Johnson en las elecciones generales.

María Concepción Alonso Bustillo, better known as María Conchita Alonso, is a Cuban-born Venezuelan-American actress, singer, songwriter, former beauty queen, and philanthropist.
Throughout her career, she has participated in multiple productions in both film and television, having been nominated for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Leading Actress in 1996 for her role in Caught. As a singer she has received several gold and platinum records, and has been nominated three times for the Grammy Awards.
Alonso was the first Latin American actress not born in the United States to star in a Broadway musical in ‘Kiss of the Spider Woman’ at the Broadhurst Theater in 1995.

ARTISTIC CAREER…
In 1973, at the age of 16, she won the “Miss Princess of the World” award in Lisbon, Portugal. Representing Venezuela. Two years later she represented the Federal District in the “Miss Venezuela 1975” held at the Poliedro de Caracas on May 9, 1975. She was the first runner. POLITICAL PARTICIPATION…
On September 17, 2014, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro asked Interior Minister Miguel Rodríguez Torres to take legal action to revoke Alonso’s Venezuelan citizenship. The reason was his public request in a radio interview for a military intervention against Venezuela: “In my opinion, (the US) must intervene, because the Cubans have already invaded without firing a single bullet because they gave it (to Venezuela) ) free. So I would like the US to invade with bullets to get all those communists out of Venezuela”.
In mid-2016, Alonso declared that he did not support either the Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump or the Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in the United States elections, considering them unacceptable. He ended up supporting Gary Johnson in the general election.
