LAS BALONMANISTAS Cubanas Arisleydi Márquez, Yudisaday Rodríguez, Melisa Arias y Geidy Maceo abandonaron la delegación en París, Francia, en horas recientes, publicó el periodista deportivo Francys Romero en Twitter, tras conocer la información por varias fuentes.
Las jugadoras integraban la selección que intervino en el premundial de la disciplina, disputado en Groenlandia. Tras caer en su debut ante las mexicanas y ser luego derrotadas por las anfitrionas, las cubanas perdieron toda posibilidad de participar en el campeonato mundial, que se desarrollará del 29 de noviembre al 17 de diciembre próximos.
A pesar de no conseguir su clasificación, el torneo había representado una oportunidad de fogueo previo a los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe para el equipo, que regresa diezmado a Cuba.
Simultáneamente, Mitchell Onel Orellana Rodríguez, tirador de 19 años y oriundo de Sancti Spíritus, decidió no regresar de su entrenamiento en España. A una semana del inicio de los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe de San Salvador, Orellana al igual que las jugadoras de balonmano le asestan un duro golpe a las aspiraciones de medallas del Inder.
Orellana Rodríguez formaba parte del equipo cubano de tiro que acudirá a los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe de San Salvador 2023, específicamente en la modalidad de rifle de aire.
OTROS DEPORTISTAS QUE ABANDONAN SUS DELEGACIONES
Estos cuatro nuevos abandonos elevan a 29 los deportistas cubanos que han escapado de las delegaciones oficiales durante competencias en el extranjero, durante 2023.
También elevan a cinco los ocurridos en esta semana y a seis los del mes actual. El más sonado ha sido el de la discóbola Denia Caballero, campeona mundial en Pekín 2015 y subcampeona en Doha 2019 —por detrás de su compatriota Yaimé Pérez, quien también decidió no regresar a Cuba y romper con las autoridades deportivas en julio de 2022—, además de medallista de bronce en los Juegos Olímpicos de Río de Janeiro 2016.
Caballero se separó del equipo tras finalizar segunda en el Meeting Diputación de Castellón, España, que fue dominado por su compatriota Slinda Morales.
Los 29 abandonos de deportistas cubanos en lo que va de 2023 superan la cantidad de sucesos de este tipo que se habían producido para esta fecha de 2022.
El abandono de Yaimé Pérez, que tuvo lugar justo el 26 de julio del año pasado, fue el número 22 de entonces, según la cuenta del periodista Francys Romero. Este año, la cifra ya ha sido superada antes de llegar a esa fecha.
En todo 2022, según las cifras más conservadoras, fueron 62 los deportistas cubanos que escaparon de delegaciones o abandonaron contratos en el exterior establecidos a través de entidades estatales de la Isla.
Ese registro no incluye a los atletas que han solicitado la baja o el retiro, o han emigrado de manera legal o ilegal.
Estas historias son un reflejo del descontento y la lucha por la libertad de los cubanos. Para muchos, emigrar se ha convertido en la única opción viable para un futuro mejor.
