El régimen califica de ‘escalada provocadora’ el ingreso de un submarino de propulsión nuclear de EEUU en Guantánamo. El MINREX dice que desconoce ‘motivos políticos o estratégicos’ de la presencia del submarino en la base naval estadounidense.
El régimen cubano calificó de “escalada provocadora de Estados Unidos” la entrada de un submarino de propulsión nuclear en la bahía de Guantánamo, un hecho del que, dijo, desconoce “motivos políticos o estratégicos”.
En una nota publicada este martes, el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores (MINREX) dijo que “rechaza categóricamente el ingreso en la bahía de Guantánamo, el 5 de julio de 2023, de un submarino de propulsión nuclear que permaneció hasta el 8 de julio en la base militar estadounidense allí ubicada”.
Para el MINREX, este hecho “constituye una escalada provocadora de Estados Unidos, cuyos motivos políticos o estratégicos se desconocen”.
El Gobierno de Estados Unidos no ha confirmado la estancia del submarino en Guantánamo.
“La presencia allí (en la base) de un submarino nuclear en estos momentos obliga a cuestionar cuál es la razón militar del hecho en esta región pacífica del mundo, contra qué objetivo se dirige y qué propósito estratégico persigue”, dijo el MINREX.
La nota oficial se refirió también a las “más de 70 bases militares en la región” establecidas por Estados Unidos, “con diverso grado de permanencia, más otras formas operacionales de presencia militar”.
El régimen aprovechó su declaración para reiterar sus pedidos de devolución del territorio en Guantánamo.
Para concluir, advirtió “sobre el peligro que entraña la presencia y circulación de submarinos nucleares de las fuerzas armadas de los Estados Unidos en la cercana región del Caribe”.

In a note published this Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX) said that it “categorically rejects the entry into Guantánamo Bay, on July 5, 2023, of a nuclear-powered submarine that remained until July 8 in the US military base located there.
For MINREX, this fact “constitutes a provocative escalation by the United States, whose political or strategic motives are unknown.”
The United States Government has not confirmed the stay of the submarine in Guantanamo.
“The presence there (at the base) of a nuclear submarine at this time forces us to question what is the military reason for the event in this peaceful region of the world, against what objective is it directed and what strategic purpose is it pursuing,” said MINREX.
The official note also referred to the “more than 70 military bases in the region” established by the United States, “with varying degrees of permanence, plus other operational forms of military presence.”
The regime took advantage of his statement to reiterate its requests for the return of the territory in Guantanamo.
In conclusion, he warned “about the danger posed by the presence and circulation of nuclear submarines of the United States armed forces in the nearby Caribbean region.”
