1- Andy García
En primer lugar, en nuestro listado de actores cubanos que hay triunfado en Hollywood debemos mencionar al extraordinario Andy García.
Andrés Arturo García nació en La Habana, y forma parte del éxodo que desde hace décadas los cubanos han emprendido hacia Estados Unidos. Como resultado, siendo todavía un pequeño, llega con su familia a la ciudad de Miami, donde afortunadamente obtienen la estabilidad que buscaban. De esta manera, la familia pronto logra establecer un negocio para la venta de perfumes, con el cual obtuvieron gran éxito.
Sin embargo, el joven Andrés o “Andy”, como también lo llamaban, desde joven manifestó un gran interés por la actuación. En consecuencia, persiguiendo el sueño de ser uno de esos actores que triunfa en Hollywood, este joven cubano inicia su formación en la Universidad Internacional de Florida.
Así, da sus primeros pasos en la actuación y al concluir sus estudios emprende su rumbo hacia Hollywood, convencido de que hará realidad su sueño. Por lo tanto, gracias a su talento y a su constancia obtuvo papeles sencillos en series de televisión, donde se destacó de manera significativa. Todo esto despertó el interés del director Brian de Palma, quien lo incluye en sus trabajos, mismos que lo introdujeron progresivamente en el cine.
Seguidamente, este actor cubano empieza a figurar entre las estrellas de Hollywood con su actuación en la película “Los Intocables”. Desde entonces, el éxito ha sido indetenible, de manera especial tras su asombroso trabajo como Vincent Mancini Corleone, en El Padrino III.
Asimismo, la presencia de Andy García en el cine ha sido tan significativa que en varias ocasiones ha obtenido nominaciones a importantes premios. A la fecha, se mantiene triunfando en la industria del cine, y ha actuado en al menos 70 películas desde 1979.
2- Ana de Armas
Asimismo, al hablar de los actores cubanos que han triunfado en Hollywood, no podemos dejar de mencionar a la espectacular Ana de Armas. Esta guapa habanera sí que ha logrado abrirse camino en la difícil industria cinematográfica en Estados Unidos, gracias a su carisma y gran talento.
Desde muy joven sintió inquietud por la actuación y, en consecuencia, dio sus primeros pasos en la Escuela Nacional de Arte de Cuba, donde estudió artes dramáticos. De este modo, su gracia particular le permitió sobresalir académicamente y la condujo al cine nacional con varios filmes. Entre las películas con las que se dio a conocer en Cuba destaca, sobre todo, “Una rosa de Francia”.
Sin dudas, las ambiciones de la joven Ana de Armas eran llegar al monstruo del cine: Hollywood, pero primero probó suerte en España. Así, tras reclamar la nacionalidad española heredada de su abuelo, emigra a tierras ibéricas donde consigue éxito en actuación.
