La prensa de la Isla indica que el paquete médico-turístico procurará promover estilos de vida saludables y que además incluirá cuidados médicos de enfermería y transporte desde y hacia el aeropuerto.
Según explicó Yamila de Armas, quien es la vicepresidenta de la entidad estatal Comercializadora de Servicios Médicos Cubanos (CSMC S.A.), está previsto que el programa atienda a grupos de adultos mayores ―con edades comprendidas entre los 75 y los 85 años― que se encuentren en buenas condiciones físicas y mentales, y que visiten Cuba por dos o tres meses durante los meses de invierno.
El primer grupo de visitantes canadienses deberá llegar a la Isla en el próximo mes de noviembre a Varadero, principal polo turístico de sol y playas de la Isla.
La exportación de servicios técnicos y profesionales es la principal fuente de ingresos de de la Isla, con un ingreso medio anual que ronda los 6 mil millones de dólares en ese concepto.
En segundo lugar se ubica el turismo, sector que aportaría unos 2 mil millones de dólares anuales y que contribuye con un 10 % al producto interior bruto (PIB).
Con el programa “Por una edad feliz”, las autoridades cubanas pretenden conectar, por tanto, los dos sectores económicos que más ganancias brindan al Gobierno cubano.
