AccorHotels is adding a new hotel in the Caribbean, this time in Havana.
The company has announced plans to debut its SO/Sofitel brand in Cuba’s capital, with the new SO/ Havana Paseo del Prado set to debut in early 2020. It will be the first-ever SO/Sofitel in Cuba and the wider Caribbean region.
The 218-room property will be located at the intersection of Paseo de Marti and Havana’s famous Malecon waterfront promenade.

Accor’s SO/Sofitel brand is a lifestyle hotel emphasizing “one-of-a-kind, fashionable properties located in select high-energy and dynamic destinations worldwide,” according to the company.

The property will include the creative signature of Spanish fashion icon Agatha Ruiz de la Prada.
“I am incredibly excited to take part in the design of the new SO/ Havana Paseo del Prado,” Ruiz de la Prada said. “Havana is a magical and colorful city, and the design process came quite naturally. The world of Cuban dance was my central inspiration, and with that, the project came alive almost out of its own accord.”
