Los cubanos ponen el grito en el cielo ante los precios de internet en los móviles. La nueva oferta de internet en los celulares ha generado comentarios en las calles y en un Foro de internet organizado por Etecsa.

Las molestias y las críticas contra la empresa inundaron las redes sociales a pesar de los pocos minutos que algunos pudieron estar online. Los cubanos tendrán acceso a internet desde sus móviles a partir de este 6 de diciembre.

A menos de 24 horas de que comience, el 6 de diciembre, el servicio de internet en los móviles en la Isla, los cubanos han puesto el grito en el cielo debido a los elevados precios de los paquetes de navegación, que llegan a costar desde un cuarto hasta la totalidad de un salario mensual completo.

La noticia, anunciada este martes por la Directora Ejecutiva de la Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Cuba (Etecsa), Mayra Averich Marín, durante una transmisión del programa oficial Mesa Redonda, ha generado diversos comentarios en las calles y en un Foro de internet organizado por el monopolio estatal.

Los comentarios en medios oficiales muestran preocupación en cuanto a los altos precios de los servicios que se ofrecerán este jueves a partir de las 8 de la mañana. Los clientes de Etecsa celebran la noticia, pero se preguntan cómo podrán costear los planes de datos con sus salarios.

Los paquetes de navegación costarán entre 7 y 30 CUC y se descontarán del saldo telefónico. Para hacer la compra de uno de los paquetes, los clientes deberán esperar a recibir un mensaje de texto (SMS) sobre la habilitación del servicio.

“El servicio es carísimo. Los precios son similares a los europeos. Desde luego esto no beneficia al pueblo. Una vez más el cubano trabajador para el Estado no podrá disfrutar de este servicio que con tanta ansia esperaban muchos” Comentaba Yailin Martínez en el espacio de CubaDebate.

No obstante, Sandra, una estudiante de Derecho, considera que “vale la pena todos los riesgos y contar con el servicio”. Sus primeras incursiones desde el celular hasta la red de redes serán “en Instagram, Facebook y revistas de diseño de interiores” que le interesan bastante. “Todo lo que pueda tener a través de aplicaciones, mejor”, precisa.

Yudiel, de 28 años y graduado en la Universidad de Ciencias Informáticas, recomienda la herramienta de Cortafuegos (Firewall) Mobiwol para controlar el tráfico de datos. “El usuario puede bloquear las conexiones en segundo plano que algunas aplicaciones llevan a cabo de manera automática, como la sincronización o las actualizaciones”, precisa. “Con los precios que tienen estos paquetes de datos hay que cuidar cada megabyte como si fuera oro”.

La opción de un paquete de 300 megabytes gratis para la navegación nacional, que se incluye con la compra de cualquier Plan, es la que parece interesar menos hasta hora. “¿Por qué iba a gastar tiempo en entrar a Granma si tengo El País o The New York Times en español, que tienen además excelentes apps para leer su contenido?”, cuestiona Luis Rafael, de 34 años y un asiduo visitante de los parques con conexiones inalámbricas.

El servicio se establecerá de manera gradual, primero para los celulares con numeración que comience con 52 y 53; el día 7 seguirá con los que inicien con 54 y 55; finalmente, el 8 de diciembre se habilitará el servicio para los que empiezan con 56 y 58.

En otro parte noticioso, hecho público por el Departamento de Estado del gobierno norteamericano, este jueves se reunieron en Washington representantes del Gobierno Estadounidense y organismos no gubernamentales en la segunda reunión del Grupo de Trabajo de Internet para Cuba (GTIC) en aras de promover un flujo de información libre en la Isla, “el grupo examina, entre otras cosas, los retos tecnológicos y las oportunidades para expandir el acceso a la internet y la prensa independiente en Cuba”.
