The Bohemia magazine presented him to the readers of its Tele-Radiolandia section, half a page, with a hat and a mustache, in photography for the admirers.
The CMQ radio and television circuit hired him exclusively, while “with the unprecedented success, he appeared daily at the Radiocentro show,” accompanied on stage by Mariachi Vargas and the Orchestra of maestro Adolfo Guzmán.
Gente de la Semana, a graphic magazine with national news, with many gossips and other advertising ingredients, dedicated the cover of its September 21 issue to the actor and singer. The reporter in charge of the interview literally pulled Pedro Infante out of bed.

Asked about his revolver, the charro, half-jokingly, and half-seriously responded thus: «- My revolver? Yes, he brought it with me, but it’s the one from the movies, don’t panic. When he shoots it is with a lightning strike; I am peaceful and as soft as Cuban women wish. ”
With his characteristic humor, he continued to affirm that the main reason for his liking for Havana could not be other than “the undulating beauty of the Havanans.”
At all times in the role of heartthrob, he projected the exact image that the public expected of him. Pedro Infante was the bearer of contagious joy and became a favorite of Cuban television and radio audiences in his inimitable interpretation of the Mexican ranchera song.
The singer had in Cuba what we can call a tight contract, which included radio, television, theatrical, and cabaret performances. His farewell was celebrated in style: with a party and olives. Smiles and promises of a soon return.
His untimely death came to ruin everything, even that sincere comment he made to a journalist: «Nowhere can there be more generosity, more enthusiasm than in Cuba. Say that I am willing to go whenever they call me and that if I am Mexican on all sides, I feel Cuba at heart ».
He visited Cuba again in 1954, interpreting some of his most loved songs.

About his training as an actor, he recalled: «Since he was a child he sang in my workshop. When I saw that people liked to hear me. I made my guitar myself and learned a bit to scratch it… In 1939 I came to Mexico City ».
Later he added: «In the fifteen years that I have been an artist, this has been the first care: not to stop being as I always was. Nothing has gone to my head and this produces its effects. Everywhere people don’t admire me, but they love me.
He filmed more than 60 films and recorded, as of 1943, more than 300 songs of various genres, although the mariachi and the ranchera had him among the great interpreters of him.

DEATH TRONCH A BEAUTIFUL CAREER
Pedro Infante died at the age of 39 when the plane in which he was traveling as a co-pilot crashed.
The disaster occurred on April 15, 1957. The previous year he had filmed ‘Tizoc’, a film in which he plays a humble Indian, in a sober performance that won him the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival.
The Pepe el Toro who was consecrated in ‘We the Poor’ (1948) was not only a skilled comedian but a valuable actor of international stature.
Even after death he has kept his popularity and is still considered one of the idols of the golden age of Mexican cinema. His case is that of an artist who has conquered time and oblivion, whose films and songs still appeal to audiences. His presence was always a phenomenon of sympathy that very few wanted to escape.

Propongamos el situarnos en septiembre de 1952, que pudiéramos llamar lo que fue «el mes de Pedro Infante», al menos entre los cubanos, porque cuanto hizo y dijo en La Habana el actor visitante devino tema de conversaciones en la calle y el ómnibus, la barbería y la oficina.
La revista Bohemia lo presentó a los lectores de su sección Tele-Radiolandia, a media página, con sombrero y bigote, en fotografía para las admiradoras.
El Circuito CMQ de radio y televisión lo contrató con carácter exclusivo, en tanto «con éxito sin precedentes se presentó diariamente en el show de Radiocentro», acompañado en el escenario por el Mariachi Vargas y la Orquesta del maestro Adolfo Guzmán.

Gente de la Semana, revista gráfica de actualidad nacional, con muchos chismes y demás ingredientes publicitarios, dedicó al actor y cantante la portada de su edición del 21 de septiembre. La reportera a cargo de la entrevista sacó a Pedro Infante literalmente de la cama.
Preguntado sobre su revolver, el charro, medio en broma y medio en serio, le respondió así: «- ¿Mi revólver? Sí, me lo traje, pero es el de las películas, no se asusten. Cuando dispara es con fulminante; yo soy pacífico y tan suave como las cubanas deseen».
Con su humor característico continuó afirmando que la principal razón de su gusto por La Habana no podía ser otra que «la belleza ondulante de las habaneras».
En todo momento en el papel de galán, proyectó la imagen exacta que la publicidad esperaba de él. Pedro Infante fue portador de una alegría contagiosa y se convirtió en un favorito de la tele y radioaudiencia cubana en su inimitable interpretación de la canción ranchera mexicana.
El cantor tuvo en Cuba lo que podemos llamar un contrato apretado, en el cual se incluyeron actuaciones radiales, televisivas, teatrales y de cabaret. Su despedida se celebró por todo lo alto: con fiesta y aceitunas. Sonrisas y promesas de un pronto retorno.
Pedro Infante de nuevo visitó a Cuba en 1954 donde interpretó algunas de sus más bellas interpretaciones musicales.

Su prematura muerte, vino a troncharlo todo, hasta aquel sincero comentario que expresara a un periodista: «En ninguna parte puede haber más generosidad, más entusiasmo que en Cuba. Di que estoy dispuesto a ir siempre que me llamen y que si soy mexicano por los cuatro costados, me siento cubano de corazón».
NUNCA DEJO DE SER COMO SIEMPRE FUE
Acerca de su formación como actor recordó: «Desde niño cantaba en mi taller. Cuando vi que a la gente le gustaba oírme. Me hice mi guitarra yo mismo y aprendí un poco a rasparla… En 1939 vine a Ciudad México».
Más adelante agregó: «En los quince años que llevo de artista, este ha sido el primer cuidado: no dejar de ser como siempre fui. Nada se me ha subido a la cabeza y esto produce sus efectos. En cualquier parte la gente no me admira, pero me quiere».
Filmó más de 60 películas y grabó, a partir de 1943, más de 300 canciones de géneros diversos, aunque el mariachi y la ranchera lo tuvieron entre sus grandes intérpretes.
Como actor recibió el Premio Ariel de la Academia Mexicana de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas por su desempeño en la película La vida no vale nada.
LA MUERTE TRONCHO UNA BELLA CARRERA
Pedro Infante murió a los 39 años, al estrellarse el avión en que viajaba como copiloto.
El desastre ocurrió el 15 de abril de 1957. El año anterior había filmado ‘Tizoc’, película en que interpreta a un humilde indio, en sobria actuación que le valió el Oso de Plata del Festival Cinematográfico de Berlín.
El Pepe el Toro que se consagrara en ‘Nosotros los pobres’ (1948) era ya no solo un hábil comediante, sino un valioso actor de talla internacional.
Aun después de la muerte ha conservado su popularidad y se le sigue considerando uno de los ídolos de la época de oro del cine mexicano. Su caso es el de un artista vencedor del tiempo y el olvido, cuyas películas y canciones todavía convocan a los públicos. Fue siempre su presencia un fenómeno de simpatía al que muy pocos querían sustraerse.
