Cuban Camila Cabello presented her latest hit “Don’t Go Yet” on Jimmy Fallon’s popular television show, with which she sent another message of solidarity to the Cuban people.
“This is for my people from Cuba. Homeland and Life” said the artist after her presentation on the program and before starting her performance.
Cabello, 24, originally from Cojímar, Havana del Este, has been one of the international stars who have given visibility to what has happened on the island after July 11, when thousands of Cubans in some 50 cities and towns of the Island came out to protest against the Government of Miguel Díaz-Canel.
“Freedom, divine freedom. Today I feel more proud to be Cuban and I feel even more proud of the young people who in our country have taken to the streets and who are leading a change despite the repression, despite the fear”, Cabello said at the recently held Premios Juventud, where he wore a shirt with the hashtag #SOSCuba and “Patria y Vida” in support of the peaceful demonstrations.
“All fighting for freedom. Let us unite our voice to theirs. Homeland and Life,” added the singer in a video broadcast before the song was played, which became an anthem for those calling for changes in Cuba.
Before the peaceful protests broke out in Cuba on July 11, international artists joined the hashtag #SOSCuba to request humanitarian aid from Cubans on the island. The request is still in force, but also for the release of the hundreds of detainees in the country and the end of the repression of the regime.
The Cuban government denies the repression, disappearances, and torture despite the videos and images published on social networks of abuse by the political police. Last week the US sanctioned the Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), Álvaro López-Miera, and the elite military unit popularly known as “black berets”, for their participation in the violent repression.
More than 600 people were detained in Cuba after the peaceful protests, according to a list prepared by the Cubalex legal advice center. The Havana regime has not given an exact number of detainees, but the first summary trials have already been held against citizens who came out to demonstrate in the streets of the country.

La cubana Camila Cabello presentó en el popular show televisivo de Jimmy Fallon su más reciente éxito “Don’t Go Yet”, con el que envió otro mensaje de solidaridad al pueblo cubano.
“Esto es para mi gente de Cuba. Patria y Vida”, dijo la artista tras su presentación en el programa y antes de empezar su actuación.
Cabello, de 24 años, originaria de Cojímar, Habana del Este, ha sido una de las estrellas internacionales que han dado visibilidad a lo que ha ocurrido en la Isla tras el 11 de julio, cuando miles de cubanos en unas 50 ciudades y pueblos de la Isla salieron a protestar contra el Gobierno de Miguel Díaz-Canel.
“Libertad, divina libertad. Hoy me siento más orgullosa de ser cubana y me siento aun más orgullosa de los jóvenes que en nuestra patria han salido a las calles y que están liderando un cambio a pesar de la represión, a pesar del miedo”, dijo Cabello en los recién celebrados Premios Juventud, donde lució una camisa con el hashtag #SOSCuba y “Patria y Vida” en apoyo a las manifestaciones pacíficas.
“Todos luchando por la libertad. Unamos nuestra voz a la de ellos. Patria y Vida”, agregó la cantante en un video emitido antes de que sonara la canción que se convirtió en un himno para quienes piden cambios en Cuba.
Antes de que estallaran las protestas pacíficas en Cuba el pasado 11 de julio, artistas internacionales se sumaron al hashtag #SOSCuba para pedir ayuda humanitaria a los cubanos en la Isla. El pedido sigue vigente, pero también por la liberación para los cientos de detenidos en el país y el cese de la represión del régimen.
El Gobierno cubano niega la represión, las desapariciones y las torturas pese a los videos e imágenes divulgados en las redes sociales del abuso de la policía política. EEUU sancionó la semana pasada al ministro de las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias (FAR), Álvaro López-Miera, y la unidad militar de élite conocida popularmente como “boinas negras”, por su participación en la represión violenta.
Más de 600 personas fueron detenidas en Cuba tras las protestas pacíficas, según un listado elaborado por el centro de asesoría legal Cubalex. El régimen de La Habana no ha dado una cifra exacta de detenidos, pero ya se celebraron los primeros juicios sumarios contra ciudadanos que salieron a manifestarse por las calles del país.
