EL PARLAMENTO EUROPEO APRUEBA RESOLUCIÓN DE CONDENA AL RÉGIMEN CUBANO. PHOTOS.
Por un amplio margen de 426 votos a favor y 146 en contra, el Parlamento Europeo aprobó este jueves una contundente resolución de condena al régimen cubano por la represión a las protestas ciudadanas del pasado 11 de julio en más de 50 ciudades y pueblos de la Isla.
La votación tuvo lugar tras un amplio debate en la Eurocámara dividido entre quienes rechazan el diálogo de la Unión Europea (UE) con La Habana y quienes consideran que la iniciativa es fundamental para influir en la Isla y culpan de la crisis al embargo de EEUU.
El texto aprobado exige sanciones individuales contra violadores de derechos humanos en Cuba, a través de la llamada Ley Magnitsky de la UE, así como que la UE trate con carácter de urgencia la comisión conjunta del diálogo para abordar estos casos.
“Los cubanos quieren un cambio, quieren una vida mejor, una Cuba democrática y libre. Tienen todo el derecho a manifestarse pacíficamente, pero en lugar de proteger a su pueblo el régimen les ha atacado, detenido y maltratado. Europa tendría que estar apoyando a los cubanos, pero la respuesta del Alto Representante sigue siendo la de siempre, declaraciones”, dijo la vicepresidenta de la Eurocámara Dita Charanzová durante una intervención esta mañana.
“Yo quiero preguntar al Alto Representante y quiero una respuesta concreta. ¿Qué tiene que pasar para que reconozca que Cuba no está cumpliendo con el acuerdo? ¿Qué considera una infracción de los elementos del acuerdo? ¿Qué tiene que pasar para que haya que sancionar a los violadores de los derechos humanos?”, cuestionó.
“La lista de los abusos del régimen crece cada día y con ella el grado de la desconfianza en el acuerdo entre la UE y Cuba”, algo en lo que coincidieron otros eurodiputados como Leopoldo López Gil, Soraya Rodríguez, José Ramón Bauzá, entre otros ponentes.
FLAGRANTE VIOLACION DE LOS DERECHOS HUMANOS
“Para el Parlamento Europeo está clarísimo hace ya mucho tiempo. Cuba viola los derechos humanos y tiene que haber consecuencias. Es hora de suspender el acuerdo, es hora de sancionar a los violadores de los derechos humanos y aplicar la Ley Magnitsky de la UE”, concluyó.
Leopoldo López Gil, portavoz de Derechos Humanos del Grupo Popular Europeo (PPE), lamentó que después de cinco años de un acuerdo que compromete a La Habana con la UE a avanzar en pro de la libertad y de la democracia, “no se han movido ni un ápice”.
“Los eurodiputados que apoyamos a los demócratas cubanos no podemos seguir esta burla”, añadió.
Para terminar, López Gil envió “un mensaje de apoyo a todas las víctimas de ese régimen, dentro y fuera de la Isla”, y recordó que, “como pilares de la Unión Europea se sostienen los principios de respeto a los derechos humanos sin contemplación de nacionalidades”.
La comisaria europea de Interior, Ylva Johansson, declaró: “Pedimos a las autoridades respetar los derechos humanos y las libertades universales, liberar a los presos detenidos de manera arbitraria e implicarse en un diálogo inclusivo sobre las reivindicaciones de sus ciudadanos”.

El régimen de Cuba no puede decir, nunca más, que condenar sus violaciones sistemáticas de derechos humanos es algo del ‘Imperio’, de la ‘derecha’, o de ‘Miami'”, añadió.
