CUBAN BOXER Yunieski González defeated American Tommy Karpency by knockout on Tuesday in a Triller Fight Club fight that took place in the Hard Rock Live ring in Hollywood, Florida.
In just two rounds González beat his rival, favorite to win, thanks to a powerful left-handed hook that went straight to the liver of his opponent, who could not recover from the blow.
“I feel very happy with this result, which fills me with confidence and tells me that I still have a long way to go in boxing,” González told specialized journalist Jorge Ebro.
The Cuban knew of this fight only three days ago. This victory comes after a long time without stepping on a ring since his last fight was in December of last year against Colombian Alex Theran, whom he also defeated by knockout.
“The work was done as perfectly as possible, with only three days’ notice for the fight. We did the work and we did not expect it to be like that, we really did not expect it to be like that, but more progressive, forwards. Well, it came out, and there it is. ”, he specified.

El cubano conoció de esta pelea hace solo tres días. Esta victoria llega después de mucho tiempo sin pisar un ring, pues su último combate fue en diciembre del año pasado contra el colombiano Alex Theran, a quien también venció por nocaut.
“El trabajo se hizo lo más perfecto posible, solamente con tres días de notificación para la pelea. Hicimos el trabajo y no esperábamos que fuera así, verdaderamente no esperábamos que fuera así, sino más progresivo, para alante. Bueno, salió y ahí está’’, precisó.
Según Pedro Roque, su entrenador, ambos trabajaron mucho en el gancho cubano que finalmente dejó fuera de juego a Karpency, un púgil de mucha experiencia que ha peleado incluso por el título del mundo.
“Ese gancho es un gancho cubano bien entrenado, bien preparado y lo dio en el momento en que había que darlo. Y hay Yunieski para mucho rato, lo demostró porque es un hombre que se sacrifica, que entrena más que todo el mundo, incluyendo muchos cubanos juntos”, recalcó.
Roque señaló que este triunfo demuestra que Yuniesky puede competir contra los mejores en la división ligero pesada, ya sea Bivol o Beterbiev.
Por su parte, su promotor, Henry Ribalta, anunció que ahora tratarán de buscarle la mejor oportunidad posible.
“No puedo sentirme más orgulloso de este triunfo. Aceptó el reto y el riesgo, pero ahora la recompensa será grande’’, agregó.
