EL GOBIERNO DE NICARAGUA estableció este lunes el “libre visado” para los ciudadanos de Cuba como una medida “humanitaria” para beneficiar a cubanos con familiares en el país centroamericano.
Una resolución del Ministerio de Gobernación nicaragüense, que entró en vigor este mismo lunes mismo, cuando fue divulgada, tiene como principal objetivo facilitar los viajes comerciales, turísticos familiares.
“Ante la cantidad de solicitudes de hermanos ciudadanos cubanos con familiares en Nicaragua, y con el fin de promover el intercambio comercial, el turismo y la relación familiar humanitaria, a partir del lunes 22 de noviembre del año 2021, se establece el libre visado para todos los ciudadanos cubanos que deseen ingresar a Nicaragua”, indicó el Ministerio de Gobernación.
Con esta decisión, los cubanos ya no tendrán que desembolsar el equivalente a 17,85 dólares para sacar la visa consultada que extiende Nicaragua en la Isla, y que tiene una duración de 30 días, prorrogables a 90.
La eliminación del visado para Cuba significa que los isleños tampoco necesitarán explicar el motivo de viaje para poder obtener el permiso de viajar a Nicaragua.
Las autoridades nicaragüenses no informaron si los cubanos deberán regirse bajo las medidas de la pandemia para ingresar a Nicaragua, como la prueba de covid-19 negativa con validez máxima de tres días, o el prechequeo con siete días de anticipación.
Hasta antes de la pandemia de covid-19 era común ver a ciudadanos cubanos aglomerados en el Aeropuerto Internacional Augusto C. Sandino, haciendo filas para volver a La Habana, con múltiples maletas de compras. Actualmente no hay vuelos entre ambos países, aunque la venezolana Conviasa expresó su intención de reactivarlos en diciembre.
Nicaragua y Cuba han tenido estrechas relaciones políticas cada vez que el país centroamericano ha sido gobernado por el presidente Daniel Ortega, primero entre 1979 y 1990, y luego a partir de 2007.
Ambos países forman parte de la Alianza Bolivariana para los Pueblos de Nuestra América – Tratado de Comercio de los Pueblos (Alba-TCP).
AVISO DE LA EMBAJADA DE EEUU EN GUYANA
Por su parte, la Embajada de EEUU en Guyana alertó a los solicitantes cubanos que “no les crean a las personas que quieren tomar su dinero para acelerar su cita para la visa. ¡Pueden hacerlo ustedes mismos y no tienen que pagar ni un peso!”
Los cubanos se pueden comunicar directamente con el Centro Nacional de Visas (NVC, por sus siglas en inglés) para preguntar si la embajada puede acelerar sus citas para la visa de inmigrante.
“Tengan en cuenta que deben tener una razón convincente, como una emergencia médica para ser considerados. Si su caso ya está en Guyana, envíen su solicitud por correo electrónico a: VisaGeorge@state.gov. RECUERDEN: ¡No hay costo por acelerar una cita!”, concluyó el comunicado en Facebook.

Nicaragua establishes the ‘free visa’ for Cubans. The United States Embassy in Guyana alerts Cubans that there is no cost to expedite the visa appointment. The US warns Cubans: ‘There is no cost to speed up an appointment!’
The Nicaraguan Government established this Monday “a free visa for all Cuban citizens who wish to enter” that country, the Nicaraguan Ministry of the Interior reported. For its part, the United States Embassy in Guyana alerted Cubans that there is no cost to speed up the visa appointment.
The Nicaraguan government said that its decision responds to “the number of requests from Cuban citizen brothers with relatives in Nicaragua” and has “the purpose of promoting commercial exchange, tourism, and humanitarian family relations.”
The free visa for Cubans who want to travel to Nicaragua was established “as of Monday, November 22, 2021,” the Interior Ministry said in a brief statement.
The official note did not give more details about the process to travel to Nicaragua, such as the negative Covid-19 test with a maximum validity of three days, or the pre-check seven days in advance said the Spanish agency EFE.

CUBA AND NICARAGUA
The governments of Nicaragua and Cuba are political and ideological allies. Both are considered totalitarian regimes, along with Venezuela, in the report “The state of democracy in the world 2021”, of the Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA).
