Ariel Pestano announces his retirement from baseball after being left out of the Cuba Team.
Ariel Pestano, one of the best receivers in the history of Cuban baseball of all time, announced his retirement as an active player in dissatisfaction at being excluded from the national team.
Pestano, 38, considered a key figure in the team’s lineup Cuba for more than a decade, was speaking Thursday to the provincial station CMHW, Santa Clara.
“They just kill everything and motivating angel’s wounds that do not heal,” said Pestano to CMHW.

Cuban Baseball officials were inclined to choose as recipients of the national squad Yulexis La Rosa (Villa Clara), Frank Camilo Morejon (Industrial) and Eriel Sanchez (Sancti Spiritus).
The manager Victor Mesa said Wednesday told reporters that the decision to replace Pestano was unilateral and was not discussed between about 15 technicians.
“He valued his illness and various other things and we wanted to make way for younger figures” expredó Mesa, who was in favor of making changes for young figures in the Cuba team.
But it is known that the relationship between Mesa and Pestano were not the best in the national team.
Not the first time announces retirement Pestano. Reported in 2009 that he would retire from the national team after playing in the World Cup held in Italy, but then pulled on the harness for the World Baseball Classic II, and continued in the national team, where he has remained for 14 years.

Ariel Pestano anuncia su retiro del béisbol tras quedar fuera del equipo Cuba
Ariel Pestano, uno de los mejores receptores en la historia del béisbol cubano de todos los tiempos, anunció su retiro como jugador activo en inconformidad por haber sido excluido de la selección nacional.
Pestano, de 38 años y considerado un figura clave de la alineación del equipo Cuba por más de una década, hizo sus declaraciones este jueves a la emisora provincial CMHW, de Santa Clara.
“Acaban de matar el ángel que motivaba todo y hay heridas que no sanan”, dijo Pestano a la CMHW.
El máscara villaclareño dijo que colgará los arreos cuando termine la actual Serie Nacional y envió un mensaje de amor a sus seguidores, al pueblo de Villa Clara y a su hijo, fuentes que inpiraron su paso por la pelota cubana.
Pestano se encuentra actualmente padeciendo de varicela y planea reincorporarse a la alineación de su equipo, Villa Clara, en la subserie con Sancti Spíritus, el próximo 25 de enero.
“Es un momento muy duro, pero seguiré siendo el mismo”, declaró Pestano. “Toda la vida he amado el béisbol”.
Fuera del equipo Cuba
La reacción de Pestano se produce apenas horas después que la Federación Cubana de Béisbol (FCB) anunciara el listado preliminar de 28 jugadores que intergrarán la selección nacional para el venidero III Clásico Mundial de Béisbol, programado del 2 al 19 de marzo.
Los directivos del béisbol cubano se inclinaron por escoger como receptores de la escuadra nacional a Yulexis La Rosa (Villa Clara), Frank Camilo Morejón (Industriales) y Eriel Sánchez (Sancti Spíritus).
El mánager Víctor Mesa declaró el miércoles a los periodistas que la decisión de remplazar a Pestano no fue unilateral y fue discutida entre unos 15 técnicos.
“Se valoró su enfermedad y varias cosas más y quisimos darle paso a las figuras jóvenes”, expredó Mesa, quien era partidario de hacer cambios a favor de jóvenes figuras en el equipo Cuba.
Pero es conocido que las relaciones entre Mesa y Pestano no eran las mejores dentro de la selección nacional.
No es la primera vez que Pestano anuncia su retiro. En el 2009 informó que se retiraría de la selección nacional tras jugar en el Mundial celebrado en Italia, pero luego calzó los arreos para el II Clásico Mundial de Béisbol, y prosiguió en la selección nacional, en la que ha permanecido por 14 años.
