ESTE 21 de octubre Celia Cruz, “La Reina de la Salsa” estaría cumpliendo 97 años, y la fecha no ha pasado desapercibida para quienes recuerdan a este ícono de la música latina que puso a bailar a miles de personas con su ritmo y sabrosura.
Varios artistas de la isla, desde sus redes sociales, han aprovechado la oportunidad para plasmar sus recuerdos sobre la mujer que conquistó al mundo con ritmos como la salsa, el bolero, el guaguancó, la guaracha, la rumba y el son montuno.
Desde su perfil en Instagram, el músico y productor cubanoamericano Emilio Estefan compartió una foto junto a su coterránea.

“Feliz cumpleaños a la gran Celia Cruz. ¡Siempre te recordaremos! ¡Siempre estás presente en nuestra vida, en nuestra cultura y en nuestra música!”, aseguró Estefan en la publicación.
También en esa red social la cantante Aymée Nuviola dedicó unas palabras a “La Guarachera de Cuba”: “Un día como hoy, 21 de Octubre pero de 1925, nació Celia Cruz, una cubana que llegaría a poner el nombre de su patria en lo más alto y que es la artista latina más importante del siglo XX”.
Aymée añadió que el legado de Celia “sigue alcanzando generaciones y ha trascendido a través del tiempo, derrumbando barreras idiomáticas, raciales, culturales e incluso políticas. Hizo un camino y abrió puertas a las mujeres en la música tropical y bailable, y su testimonio de vida, su amor por su país, por la familia, por su esposo y por sus amigos es inspirador”.
La cantante acompañó su publicación con la versión que hiciera hace algunos de uno de los temas más populares de Celia Cruz: “La vida es un carnaval”.
Otro que recordó a la intérprete de “Quimbara” en este aniversario de su nacimiento fue Eduardo Antonio, El Divo de Placetas.
El cantante, además de compartir una foto junto a ella, escribió: “Feliz cumpleaños para nuestra reina de siempre Celia Cruz. Gracias madrina por tanto, por tu bendición y ser una guía para mi carrera durante tantos años”.
Diversos usuarios y páginas institucionales en redes sociales recordaron también el aniversario de esta cubana que llevó siempre a su país en el corazón y en su música.
Úrsula Hilaria Celia de la Caridad de la Santísima Trinidad Cruz Alfonso, nombre completo de Celia Cruz, nació en Santo Suárez, La Habana, y alcanzó reconocimiento primero como cantante del grupo de bailarinas Las Mulatas de Fuego y más tarde como vocalista del conjunto musical La Sonora Matancera.
En 1960 sale de Cuba rumbo a México junto a La Sonora y en 1961 sigue hacia Estados Unidos, donde se convirtió en uno de los símbolos de la comunidad cubana en el exilio y vivió hasta su muerte en 2003.
La cantante que hiciera famosa la frase ¡Azúcar!, fue nominada en trece ocasiones a los premios Grammy y en seis a los Grammy Latino e inmortalizó varios temas musicales, entre ellos “Burundanga”, “Ritmo tambó”, “Quimbara”, “Que le den candela”, “La negra tiene tumbao” y “La vida es un carnaval”, esta última considerada por la revista Rolling Stone en 2021 como una de las 500 mejores canciones de todos los tiempos.
