LA MOVILIZACIÓN de tropas de la Guardia Nacional promovida la semana pasada por el gobernador de Florida, Ron DeSantis, no ha impedido el desembarco de balseros. En las últimas 24 horas lo hicieron 50 cubanos, dos grupos en Cayo Víbora y otro más en Cayos Marquesas, informó en sus redes sociales el oficial en jefe de la Patrulla Fronteriza Walter Slosar.
En una de las imágenes compartidas por el oficial se observa a 10 balseros abandonar la embarcación rústica. Slosar, que no ofreció más detalles sobre estas personas, documentó la llegada de otros 72 cubanos, 19 el martes pasado y 53 el domingo.
El éxodo de balseros cubanos aumentó en forma alarmante en las últimas dos semanas, a pesar del nuevo permiso humanitario establecido por Estados Unidos. “Han llegado más de 800 balseros a los Cayos”, dijo el jefe de la División de Operaciones de Aduanas y Protección Fronteriza, Adam Hoffner.
A los balseros que han logrado tocar tierra se les está entregando una orden expedita de deportación, el veredicto que emite un juez para expulsión de una persona pero que puede ser revertido con asesoría legal. Esta orden tiene un plazo de vencimiento de 60 días. De ahí que muchos cubanos no saben si realmente serán deportados o podrán optar por otra solución.
Este jueves la Guardia Costera repatrió a Cuba a 177 personas a bordo de los buques Pablo Valent y Robert Yereds. El teniente comandante de la Guardia Costera, Mark Cobb, subrayó en un comunicado que la Embajada de EE UU en Cuba reanudó el procesamiento de todas las visas de inmigración en La Habana el oficial.
“Con las nuevas vías legales para ingresar a los Estados Unidos anunciadas por la Casa Blanca y el Departamento de Seguridad Nacional la semana pasada, instamos a todas las personas a utilizar medios seguros y legales”, reiteró Cobb.
Desde el pasado 1 de octubre ya suman 4.917 los cubanos que han visto frustrado su intento por llegar a Florida.
Este jueves, la Guardia Costera también informó sobre la intercepción de una embarcación con 25 haitianos en las inmediaciones de la Bahía Vizcaína, de Miami (Florida). Algunos de estos migrantes se lanzaron al mar al verse descubiertos por las autoridades pero fueron detenidos y llevados al Parque Virginia, donde les brindaron atención médica.
El canal local NBC6, que transmitió en directo el momento de la detención de la embarcación. Las imágenes transmitidas desde un helicóptero del citado canal mostraron varias embarcaciones de la Guardia Costera, de la Policía de Miami-Dade y de otras agencias de respuesta a los desembarcos masivos de haitianos y cubanos.

THE MOBILIZATION of National Guard troops promoted last week by the governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, has not prevented the disembarkation of rafters. In the last 24 hours, 50 Cubans did so, two groups in Cayo Víbora and another one in Cayos Marquesas, the chief officer of the Border Patrol Walter Slosar reported on his social networks.
In one of the images shared by the official, 10 rafters are seen leaving the rustic boat. Slosar, who did not provide further details about these people, documented the arrival of another 72 Cubans, 19 last Tuesday and 53 on Sunday.
The exodus of Cuban rafters has increased alarmingly in the last two weeks, despite the new humanitarian permit established by the United States. “More than 800 rafters have arrived in the Keys,” said Adam Hoffner, the head of the Customs and Border Protection Division of Operations.
Rafters who have managed to make landfall are being issued an expedited order of deportation, the verdict issued by a judge to expel a person but which can be reversed with legal advice. This order has an expiration period of 60 days. Hence, many Cubans do not know if they will really be deported or will be able to opt for another solution.
This Thursday the Coast Guard repatriated 177 people to Cuba aboard the ships Pablo Valent and Robert Yereds. The lieutenant commander of the Coast Guard, Mark Cobb, stressed in a statement that the US Embassy in Cuba resumed the processing of all immigration visas in Havana for the officer.
“With the new legal pathways to enter the United States announced by the White House and the Department of Homeland Security last week, we urge all individuals to use safe and legal means,” Cobb reiterated.
Since last October 1, there are already 4,917 Cubans who have seen their attempt to reach Florida frustrated.
This Thursday, the Coast Guard also reported the interception of a boat with 25 Haitians in the vicinity of Biscayne Bay, Miami (Florida). Some of these migrants jumped into the sea when they were discovered by the authorities, but they were detained and taken to Virginia Park, where they received medical attention.
The local channel NBC6, broadcast live the moment of the arrest of the boat. The images transmitted from a helicopter of the aforementioned channel showed several vessels of the Coast Guard, the Miami-Dade Police, and other response agencies to the massive landings of Haitians and Cubans.
